My dad ran a pawn shop for years and this was a product of that. So, I don't know any of it's history.
It was made by a maker named Black and is marked with his name and USA. The engraving was done by French. I am familiar with him and his work. But, I believe he retired some years ago. My question is of value. I understand the value of this as a tool and I acquired it to use as such. But as it is a beautiful piece, I stashed it away and never used it. I came across it this weekend and the same old questions came up again. Can any of you give me any info on this knife and it's maker?
Thanks!!
Matt

The psycho nut bags have always been there. They just get better press now.
Take away their guns, they'll use knives. Take away their knives and they'll use sticks!!

I recognize Black's card and think I have one, but that doesn't help you or your quest. Might try Arizona Custom knives and see if they could help? Long shot but they have long arms.

Find a Book called "Knives '17" or '16 or '15, (they go all the way back to 1981). There is an extensive list of makers, engravers and such in the back. They do update the info each year, but you may need to go back a few years to find their contact info.

If I had to guess, I'd say by the style that Mr. Black was acquainted with G.W. Stone. I'd also guess that it's from the mid to late 70's, maybe early 80's. Looks like a quality knife. Wild guess, price between 200 and maybe 600, unless Mr. Black is more famous than I suspect.
