That tail set has been right there since she was 8 weeks old and playing with a wing. That is as natural as it comes. up

Well Bobby, that is the best I can do. My shags sure do find a lot of birds and in a hurry. What more can I ask for? I have a 8 yo ES male that is as hard and tough as any pointer I have ever owned or seen. Toughest SOB and best birddog I have ever owned or hunted behind. The shags they are breeding today are a lot different and more like pointers than any time in our past, if you study and pick the right bloodlines. If you see any setter running in the National Championship at Ames, breed to it or buy a pup and you will be miles ahead in setter toughness. Some of the Shadow Oak Bo pups I have seen recently are off the charts tough and fast...and hellacious birddogs.

Are there good breeders around N Texas? I would love a good setter, they are beautiful dogs. I've always been a little skeptical due to their hair and wondering if all the hunt has been bred out of them but it sounds like they are better than ever if you find the right breeder.

I have a 6 mo old out of shadow oak bo. He's gonna be a great one. His tail isn't as nice as this one in the thread but he's got the drive and the nose. He will run w my pointers easily. They are really nice dogs for sure if you can find em.

All it takes is whoa breaking and collar conditioning.
