I've owned a welding shop for almost 6 years and we decided to branch out a bit and start building feeders, blinds, etc. We got one put together last night. What do y'all think? We build it where it can winch up on a tripod stand, or attach to a frame with a ladder and taller legs.

Nice work, looks sturdy.

IMO the weak link is the motor and controller box. Coons will destroy it in short order.

You might want to look at methods other than coon cages. They tend to knock half the corn being thrown down to the ground piling it up underneath the feeder instead of spreading it out evenly so multiple animals can feed without crowding each other.

Thanks for input guys. Yeah, we're working on the varmint guard and are building the timer setup and box, etc. I finished milling the press brake dies yesterday. bounce

Looks nice. If I was building one, I would make the bottom an upside down pyramid so all the corn flows into the spinner and doesn't settle off to the sides. I would also have a solar panel on it, or at least a mount to install one.

Roughly 120#. It will hold 450# of corn. I have a few changes to make on the next one to get the weight down.

Looks good other than what has already been mentioned.

I would put the clear slot corn indicator down lower so you know when your corn is running low, never understood why they are put so high confused2

Since you own a welding shop, put the varmint guard OUTSIDE the legs with a trapdoor to service the battery/timer. Dang coons can reach in a long way but not THAT long. 1" mesh should work fine...

that'd be a heavy bastard to manually winch up - looks good though. I'm going to be honest, after running winch up tri-pod feeders with cages and stand and fill ground feeders with plates I'm thinking about selling all of my winch ups and go all stand and fill. That would be a better stand n fill feeder in my opinion.

any idea on pricing?

def would upgrade the whole control unit to a quality 12 volt system bc that will keep people from purchasing.

We have hogs that love to rub on the bottoms of our feeders varmint cages. Had to raise them up out of their reach or else put a heavy duty cage on them.
They would tear or bend that spinner assembly off in one night. Otherwise a stout looking build.

$450 for the 450# stand and fill with "the timer" wired to a 12v motor and our varmint guard (not the cheap mesh that comes apart). All the parts are CNC plasma cut and I finished milling our press brake dies yesterday for our timer boxes.

Definitely add a solar panel to charge the battery.

Design is solid for sure, and it looks great(looks matter).
If you take all, or almost al, the suggestions the guys are giving then you have a winner. I would go bigger 800lbs capicity at least and attach skids, and stand and fill or tailgate fill height are big selling points to me.

Thanks for all the advise guys, I really appreciate it. We're putting together the new timer box and varmint cage design, so I'll put some photos up when we have them together. We spent 5 days at the lease tinkering with stuff so it put us a little behind.
