Would make for my first bow kill and he looks of age and with being an 8 still at what I'm guessing 4+years old would be a good one to take. Thoughts?

Only reason I even slightly hesitate, is in this picture it looks like he tried to add kickers on his G2's, but that could have been there last year and he is declining now? With protein added this year and how wet it was I think it should be more defined if it was going to take at all this year.

And any guess at length of the G2's and G3's? Just curious more than anything

The top 2 pictures in your first post are 2 different bucks. One is an 8, and the other a 7. The 8 point is the same buck in the 6:13 pm and 6:54 pm pictures. He's heavy antlered, and in a few years would be a nice deer. It doesn't show his width, so not sure if he would make antler restriction or not. He's nice to look at, though. The 7 point will make AR, and would be a deer I would let my son shoot. He would also make a good first buck. I would shoot the 7 before I shot the 8. But..., you are the hunter and can shoot the deer that you want and makes you pleased and satisfied. They should both taste about the same!!!

the 7 point in 2nd picture for it needs to be culled. 1st buck appears to be mature with that big rump and belly sagging, if you had good conditions this year so far as rain and forage, I would not hesitate to take him also

Looks like the same deer to me. Right g2 and g3 are just aligned in the 2nd picture. Zoom in at the top of the tines. Looks at the face and markings on the right eye. Same deer.

The top 2 pictures look to be 2 different deer to me. Pic at 7:03 could have a G2 hiding behind the G3 on the left side( his right side), but I don't think so. It looks different to me.

Definitely 2 different deer. First buck is a main frame 8 with shorter, thicker tines with the last tine curling. 2nd deer main frame 7 with taller, skinnier tines with no curl at end.

Definitely the same deer. You can tell by the alignment of the beams, tines, shape of white patch on the eye. Heck, the pictures were taken within 9 minutes of each other. You can clearly see the g2 behind the g3 if you look at the tip. Same deer. And to the OP, I'd pass. Shoot it if you want to.

It's the same deer. The tines are just aligned in the 2nd pic. If you look closely, you can see the outline of the G2 behind the G3.

Same deer. compare him to others you have the sweep back on his main beams would put him in the "management trophy" category. Definition= Somebody's management but somebody else's trophy.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I'd bet very heavily it's the same deer. I would be disappointed with his progress at that age but I don't know the genetics in your area. What does a 6.5 yr old version of this deer look like? If you like him, shoot him.

First bow kill -- take it and be proud of it.
That deer won't get a lot bigger if you pass on him, IMO.

Well, without knowing the genetics in your area I would say he is legal and at or past his prime so go ahead and harvest. As for your first bow kill, anything with hair is a trophy!!! On my plot, he'd take a dirt nap

Looks like 2 different deer to me. Shoot what you like and be proud of it. Personally I would pass.

For all of the reasons I mentioned above. So what does 9 minutes have to do with anything? Most of us have seen multitudes of bucks in the same field at the same time that are very similar, also the eye marking is very common for most mature bucks, nothing about it is distinguishing? Zoomed in at 500 and could see what might be the tip of a G2 hidden by a G3, again that is might be even so the height and mass are different between the two! If it is the same buck, that is one heck of an optical illusion in the photos of the rack.

I'd pass but it really doesn't matter what I or anyone else on here would do....what are you going to do? On my lease we get a "trophy" and a cull and that eight would be a trophy. Perhaps if he's still around the last week of Dec I would... but not before.
