I've shot them for fun. Never owned one. Never really had much use for one. However now I'm considering. Not sure why really.

I expect there's some degree of craze starting up again.

I know. That's why it bothers me to be thinking I might ort to get one. I didn't buy ammo or guns during the last craze. However I could buy one now for a good price.

The S&W M&P 15 Sport II would be ok for general use?

I've taken one deer and one hog with mine. Mainly play with it to make empties for my bolt gun.

For general recreational and HD use, the Sport II is a great rifle, especially in the $500 price range we have been seeing.

I like my ar to hunt with when I am not sitting in a blind. When I am stalking it is far superior than my bolt gun by being easier to manipulate and since I hunt thick woods a fast acquisition is needed. The bolt gun I prefer when I am sitting in the blind and making longer shots with more time typically

Thanks!

It's moderately embarrassing to come here and ask such a question right now so I typically would not reaction buy anything. Still a bit against going to buy one based on such motive.

These are the times when you'll read some rather interesting sales posts for standard and normal guns.

If this keeps up 6.5 Creedmoor AR10 will be capable of shooting rainbows and stars out of the barrel and be worth $ 3800.

They're all pretty decent. Upgrade the trigger and they become twice as accurate. And if the one you buy has something you don't like such as the stock it's easy to swap out. Personally I'd spend a little extra and get one setup like you want versus an entry model like the Sport but that's just me.

Resisted the urge. I'll get one when and if I really want one.

Timing be darned.. If you want one, buy one..nothing feel bad about. They are cheap and plentiful today, may not be tomorrow; that's just a fact.

Nothing wrong with buying when the market is right.

Very true, I dumped all my AR's during the panic, haven't had any for a few years, now all of a sudden prices are great on new rifles. I just ordered two last week and ended up with another on a trade , now I'm AR poor lol. (Not really, one pistol, one carbine, and one 24 inch hbar)

Don't know much about the Ruger AR's, but this seems like a decent deal.

I've owned a few. Sold the first two way back when the Clinton "ban" sent them up. Missed the last silly craze. Bought one for 600 bucks a year or so ago. Fun to shoot a couple of times, got old quick (I'm not a "shooter") and it sits unused now. If they go up to 2 grand again I'll sell it.

Pretty much useless to me.

I'm in the "don't have any use for them" club. Owned a DPMS and Rock River years ago and sold them both for about what I paid for them and moved on into bolt guns and haven't looked back. Now is the time to buy if you're thinking about it though.

The only hunting utility I see for them is for the dedicated hog slayers. They are tailor-made for that. Especially the helicopter and night hunting guys.

Anything else hunting a bolt rifle is superior on any number of fronts.

Mine is my primary predator hunting rifle. I'm also going to start my daughter out using it since there is no recoil and a collapsible stock. Mine is also as accurate as my bolt guns.
