I live on 1.5 acres in the country. Have been having a few groups of hogs hitting my back yard pretty regularly for a while. Last night they were there and looking through the back French door, the moon was bright enough and sky clear enough I could see the reticle and hogs in the back yard. So I stoked up my trusty old 10/22 and made the sneak around the corner of the house. There were 5 of them, 2 within 20 yards. I picked the smaller of the two centered the crosshairs oh his eye region and squeezed the trigger to hear a click and no boom. While trying to get the bullet out of the chamber to chamber another round the smelled me and took off.

The bulk box of Remington 22 ammo is about 10-15 years old always stored inside, makes me wonder how many will/wont go off... ugh till next time.

Yes sir, never had a gripe with them back in the day, but it seems more often than not now they don't go bang.

That's frustrating! Do tell us which Remington bullets you were trying to use!

They were golden bullets in the bulk box exactly like Vern suggested... I'm getting a feeling there is a reason he knew that lol.

Experienced the same thing with the same bullets in the same box! Lots of them did not go bang. I have now switched to Federal or CCI.

I have 2-3 boxes stashed in an ammo can.
Was really surprised how many don't go bang.

Only use them for playing at the range now.
They look like this:
