We have a place in East Texas that we just put up a HF on and we are still wanting to do food plots on them. We are currently working on a plan to build small temp fences around them to keep the animals from hammering them until they are established. I wanted to see if any one else has experiences with keeping animals off the plots until they are ready and how they handled it?

edit: Sorry, there are Axis, Fallow, Blackbuck and a few sheep on the property.

I'm in Tyler. How far away is the ranch and will you have any other exotics on it?

Two fences about 5' apart. Deer have poor depth perception and wont jump if they feel they cant safely clear it. Same with most of the exotics you listed, some of which wont even try to jump it.

We are about 45 mins away. Yes, the plan is get a few more species as well. Looking at Oryx and maybe Sika. Not really digging sheep so once they are gone, we wont be doing that again.

This is the route we are going to go, thanks for the feedback.
