Need some pens built. Got plenty of T post. Question/. I understand hog panel would be best.
Would a roll of wired fencing work, to keep them out?
100 ft roll is 46 dollars, equal to about 6 panels.

I doubt it, hog panels work due to the gauge of wire & stiffness of the panel as a whole. Getting field fence tight enough will require more substantial posts to tension it properly. You won't get it tight using t posts as tension posts. 6 panels makes a very small feeder pen, I use at least 10, usually 12. Just finished helping a friend with one 13.5 panels with the half panel as an 8' gate.

Mine is just 4 strands of barbedwire. Got picks of hogs and cattle outside but they never come in.

I recommend hog panels as well. We made ours with 9 panels and used a panel as a gate. If we do not wire that gate panel very tight, hogs can push under it and still get in. But we have hogs really bad so maybe thats just us. Rolled wire would not stand a chance at my place.

You can get some heavy re-enforcing mesh wire for concrete in various sizes. Best I have used has 4" square holes and same thickness wire as cattle/hog pens. Comes in 100' rolls and is usually 6' tall. This stuff works quite well and is treated so it doesn't rust away when in concrete for a long, long time.
I use it on the inside of my cattle pens and watch 1800 pound bulls bounce off of it! It makes dandy "custom fit" panels for pig traps and transport trailers with 4" grid size. Also works great for circular hog traps and eliminates a lot of joints between panels. Also easier to haul a 6' roll vs a 16' long panel.
Never seen a pig go thru this stuff.

Vern1, how do you cut this re-enforcing mesh ... just cut the 6' high roll in half to make 2x 3' high 100' rolls? torch or bolt cutters?

Plus you run the risk of a bullet deflecting off the wire since they are closer together.

Check out Burley Fence of south 35 in Ft Worth. I bought two rolls of no climb fence 3 years ago for $100 a roll..... 200' of fence. 6x6 should be cheaper
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

Or just stake your feeder legs like this and forget the fence. Haven't had pigs or cows take down one of my feeders in over 6 years since we started doing them like this. The leg is tied to the T-post in 3 places, the bottom is hidden in the grass. Pardon the Joker in the background but it's the best shot of leg tiedown I have....

We have crank up feeders and never had a hog, cow, horse, or donkey hurt one yet, but the hogs mobbed them so badly it was seriously hindering our deer hunting. I have shot hogs 4 hunts in a row. Penned them and now rarely see hogs

We used sheep and goat netting for years, if you can stretch it good and tight it will work pretty well. They will eventually make a hole somewhere or other, but you can patch them pretty easily. I hunted the same feeder setup with wire for over ten years and it was still in pretty good shape, but in the end panel is better, plus you can take it down and move it better etc.

Yes it will definitely work. I have used it for years. Occaisionally I would have a hog burrow under one section but that is easy to fix with some additional stakes in those areas. Don't scrimp on the T posts though as the farther you get them apart the more flexibility in the fence. Hogs have not messed mine up.

If your talking about the square game fencing yes but you would have to get it extremely tight and I doubt regular set Tpost will do this in the long run

I currently prefer panels for multiple reasons; however, I used rolled wire for years with success and have never had a hog or livestock bypass the rolled wire. Here was my formula: (1) I bought pre-cut 6-foot 4X4 treated posts from Lowes and sunk them 2 foot in the ground for my corners. (2) I stretched a strand of GOOD 4-barbed wire about 3-6" shorter than the height of rolled wire I am using. (My top wire usually runs at 40-43" when complete). I then stretched a stand of that barbed wire literally right on the ground-Hogs! (3) I stretched my rolled wire with a come-a-long attaching to both T-posts and corner posts (4) I tie together the bottom barbed wire to the bottom of the rolled wire. I then remove the top stand of rolled wire with cutters and then roll the leftover vertical "fingers" of the rolled wire to the top strand of barbed wire. Basically your top and bottom wire are both now barbed-Hogs don't go under and livestock doesn't lean over. Yes, a lot of work compared to panels and permanent so moving it is not a realistic option, but it does work and will keep out "intruders". NOTE: The Red wire in pics is left for illustration only. Once complete, that wire is gone.
The blood trail that really matters leads to the cross!
