Seems like I've been checking my email constantly all week in anticipation of my tags being issued. I'm enrolled in the conservation option and have no idea how many permits I am going to get. Hopefully I will get them next week.

I know each property varies on data and regions but are those of you that received permits under the conservation option seeing a big difference between this option and the Harvest Option?

thanks

Did you look in your "spam" folder to see if the email was there?

I get mine as part of a Wildlife Management Association but received the email last week. When you guys print your permits don't forget to print the Harvest Log as well as maintain it while the season progresses.

You could check with your biologist to see when it will happen.

How long ago were your deer survey results submitted? Our biologist always consults with us on the tag issuance after he reviews the survey results. I'll be submitting our survey results this week.

Well, good luck to you all that got permits! after being in this program for last 8 years with year documentation was notified today that our property will not be getting any permits for 17-18 year!
This TPWD management plan is so construded its not even funny!

Im located in a 2 buck, MLD permit does county only. 20 years ago we had hardly any deer, today our area is great, good fawn crop this year, always see does usually when we are out in the pasture!

I guess the local biologist doesnt see it that way! Im sure im not only one with similar views of this program.

I think after this year some changes are in order on how this program is implemented.

Just my rant after a bad day at work!...

At 64 I dont have patience the way local govt works! or is it just me....

Hogflyer......I can sympathize with you. TPW is off in their own world anymore with very little connection to the real world. I am trying not to get on a rant myself. What a mess !

I guess I'm just different. I found it to be a fairly simple process, got my tags last week from the Harvest Option. No surveys required, poke a few buttons on the computer, and print out my tags. All I had to really do was decide if I wanted the number of tags they offered or just go with the tags on my hunting license. Much easier than the old system.

The conservation option has not changed much from the old MLDP either aside from marking your boundaries and printing your tags. I printed my tags out 2 days ago with no problems at all. And my biologist is very professional and helpful with answering and explaining all of my questions.

We have been MLD 3 since 2010 and I let ours go this year. Our biologist retired and the harvest option hosed us compared to the old system.

We don't kill many deer after January anyway so I didn't see the benefit anymore.

We have been MLD3 on this place since 2010. Traditionally, we get 24-30 Does and about 8-10 bucks on our place.. This year staying on the Conservation option, we're getting 12 and 12. I'm not sure yet, how I feel, about those numbers.. According to our Biologist, the program is still undergoing some tweaking. Curious to see how it goes.

Where I hunt we were LAMPS and this year we are Harvest Option, have been told we are getting substantial fewer doe permits. Had not heard how many but it doesn't sound good.

We were going to do the harvest option- for us the doe count was incredibly high, the spike count was non-existent and the the buck count was maybe 30% lower than what we would have expected. I am sure the program works well in some situations but not for us especially given the huge amount of food plots we have put in over the years and the yr round feeding and protein.
We will see if the numbers are revised for next yr.

So the number of tags offered were less than what you wanted but were they in line with your survey information?
