The source is California from a couple of years ago. It is warfarin, but rodenticide.

Yep! There was a full page write up in the San Antonio paper about some testing going on at the Camp Bullis military post, where they are setting up test feeders trying to see if the hogs will eat at the feeder that is laced with a non lethal additive that would be similar to Nitrate which is supposedly more safe as a poison, and safe for consumption of the hogs by humans. It kills the hogs that eat the bait in about 2 hrs. What they are trying to do is see if the hogs will come to a box feeder with has some type of doors, in order to train the hogs to use the special trap that other animals can't get into. Don't know about the coons, but they have reported that one got into it. The artical did mention that Warfarin turns the internal fat blue on a hog.

Jimbo, they have been doing those tests for years, actually. The active ingredient, similar to nitrate, is sodium nitrite.

This has been on a dozen hog hunting sites and FB forums. Simply photoshopped?

Leave it to the gov't to spend money training a pig, then catching it, then poisoning it, only to let it go free and hope it dies. Makes you wonder why they don't just shoot them when they catch them?

I'm skeptical of the pic as there's not a single trace of any red anywhere on that hog. It may turn some tissue blue, but it can't turn blood and the like blue.

if the pig was dead for a while and/or left hanging like that for a while, the blood could have settled to the bottom of the pic and the skin vessels have nothing in them. Other than the superficial skin vessels, there is no major vessel cut in this section. So I could see how this could have left no red from blood.

Makes you wonder why they don't just shoot them when they catch them? What is the real is they did all that study and then this last week they shot 460 hogs from a helicopter with shotguns. That was also written in the same newspaper article last weekend.

I don't see any place where the it was cut to make it bleed. I do see blood on that hand and its red. There is minimal blood when I clean a hog and usually don't see blood vessels or arteries until I get to the extremities or around the neck. Blood also makes its way to the lowest point and fills up. Head shot hogs have even less blood.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.
