Friday, I went out testing my latest run of 270 Win BULK ammo. I sighted in and confirmed my zero at 100 yards. I decided to stretch it out! I shot a group at 400 and 500 yards. Rifle is a Howa 1500 with a Leupold VX-7 scope. This is a bone stock Howa, that has been bedded and the trigger lightened up some. Can your 270 Win ammo do this! This isn't even my match grade stuff. This is my BULK ammo that is run on a progressive press making 400-500 rounds an hour. And at $1.22 per round! Try and beat that! Speed- 3081 fps Bullet- Hornady 130 grain SP InterLock Brass- Winchester Primer- Federal 210 Powder- secret sauce! 400 yard group with 270 Winchester shooting 130 grain SP BULK ammo. The first round went high, then the next 3 rounds went into about a 3" group. 500 yard group! 5 rounds in about 5" group, with a little wind mixed in. The 6th round hit left. 10" plate

Nothing wrong with that. I like my 270, don't kick as bad as the 06 using 150 grain in both. Although the 3006 has a wider variety on ammo.

Dunno about chunkin' iron, Chad, but my pre-64 model 70 did this with a 130 Partition and IMR 4350 at 357 yards...

I'll take a buck over steel every time! Very nice!!!! 4350 and a 130 grain is about ideal for a 270.

That metallic "whack" is pretty satisfying too. Hey Chad, did ya kill off all the hogs in Stephens county?? I'm not seeing a lot lately, 'cept on game cams...??

Hi Dennis, Actually, we are getting more hogs now than we ever have. 2 were killed this last weekend, and I killed 2 pigs 2 weeks ago. Some other guys have also shot some hogs. We are seeing more than we ever have on our place right now, which is odd. We typically do not have any pigs. Lots on game cams, too. (Dennis hunts just up the road from our place) Here's the one we killed a few weeks ago: http://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbth...rs_#Post6863922

IMR 4350 isn't too hard to find. H4350 is near impossible. I did get 20 lbs in last week of H4350, though. (And no, it's not for sale!!)

Mine will do that all day. Its funny I have a ton of custom rifles but when I deer hunt I seem to always grab my old browning 270. It may not be the pretty gun but it is super accurate. Have you ever tried 4831 sc in your 270 as an alternative to the 4350 that is so hard to find right now.

Exactly what does .270 AMMO have to do with the ability to shoot accurately at long distances?? IMO, the ability of the other equipment (Rifle) and SHOOTER is more important than some handloaded ammo. If you have an accurate rifle and know how to shoot, Hornaday, Remington, Winchester, and other out-of-the-box ammo will give similar results.

DH3 ....... I have found the same results out to 300 yds with my Rem 700 .270 Win. Never tried anything further. Somebody will have to tell me why I should expect any difference .........

Yes, that's why the shooting contest guys use factory ammo.

I'm glad you ask! Shooting accurately at longer ranges is really a 4 part system- Rifle, Ammo, shooter, and scope. Having a good rifle, scope and shooter are a big part, no doubt. But you can not get the consistent ammo needed found in factory 270 Win ammo for the longer ranges, or even sometimes to shoot better. The powder charges inside the case of factory ammo have a large variance inside the case. I have seen as high as 2.1 grain spread, with most often being in the 1 to 1.5 grain variance. When doing a load work up, I test in .3 or .4 grain increments working up. Factory ammo having a 1.5 grain spread will cross over 5 different groups of my test ammo when working up a good load, and this is just in 1 lot of factory ammo. Now given the 270 BULK ammo I'm listing here is not match grade (match grade meaning loaded one at a time and the powder charge weighed out), but it's loaded with much better components than factory ammo, and loaded to tighter tolerances than factory ammo is. All while keeping the final price at or better than factory ammo pricing. The whole idea of this ammo is to make a better 270 Win round than factory ammo while keeping the price about the same as factory ammo. What's not to like about that!? This 270 BULK ammo is much better than factory ammo and priced about the same. Because the ammo is loaded to tighter tolerances with better components (match grade magnum powder, Fed 210 Match primers) groups at longer ranges do not open up and velocity spreads are much more consistent. Factory ammo often can not hang at longer ranges, especially in the 270 Win, since there are no good factory "match" 270 ammo options. This BULK ammo closes that gap, so to speak. I'm trying to make a more "hand load" 270 Win round but at the price point of factory ammo. At $1.22 per round, you can not beat it for the price point for the performance you get. I have several guys shooting this ammo on my deer lease, and they love it. It runs 3081 fps in my Howa, and 3110 fps in a brand new Tikka T3. And it shoots very good for the price! Yes, that's why the shooting contest guys use factory ammo. Exactly! These guys reload for a reason!

225 yds in the ear hole. You do your part and this ammo will go where you want it to every single time. Flatter shooting than other 270 130 grain loads bc its faster. Speed kills.

Yes, that's why the shooting contest guys use factory ammo. I want to know why they were all trying to get me into rolling my own as most of them did... O, because it is more accurate. That is why. Pistol guys I can get it but rifle guys shooting factory loads
