Anyone get the recent Optics catalog and notice it only advertises Nikon, Kahles, Swarovski, Burris, Sig, Zeiss and Athlon? Last time I was in the store I notched they had a quite small selection of Vortex Optics available.

I got it out of the mail box and tossed it in the trash. So many places online to get optics at better prices.

I agree however it's not the prices I was looking at, it was the advertised selection. And with the lack of Vortex selection when I was in the store recently combined with the flyer makes me wonder if they are dropping the Vortex line.

I doubt it. Cabelas has several lines of optics that are made for, and rebranded by Vortex such as their Intrepid line.

I doubt I'll ever buy an optic in store again. On line selection is unlimited, information is right there, prices are great, etc. Cabelas on line has a full selection of Vortex, this mailing was likely a targeted promotion.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Like said above vortex makes some of cabelas line of optics so there is that. I looked through the latest magazine I have and swear there was vortex in it but cant recall what edition or whatever it was.

I have $700 in cabelas points so I will probably buy my optics there.

I have only bought optic's at Cabela's twice this week.... trying to cut back. cool
One was for someone else but like Redchevy I had some points and they started carrying Kahles so with 10%off and free shipping my dad has a package showing up next week. Sent to him to save sales tax.

This was just an observation that I was curious about. They have a very limited supply of Vortex riflescopes in store (Allen) on display, online several are heavily reduced which may be due to the next gen of replacement models. Most of my rifles have a PST of some sort 1st gen and 2nd with only one having a Burris XTR II. I'm fond of their brand, I was curious if anything was going on especially since the most recent Optics catalog I received did not have a single Vortex product. And as mentioned it may simply be an advertisement ploy promoting only the other brands I mentioned since there were several new models for the some of those brands. And I don't shop for Optics in store, LEO/Mil pricing direct from the manufacturer or other various sources online beat store prices by a mile. I don't even want to state what I paid for my Gen 2 5-25 PST, I almost feel guilty. Almost

Your dad is getting a very nice scope.

When I sold optics at the Fort Worth Cabela's the two brands with by far the most display area were Leupold and Vortex. The problem with Vortex was we only ever had about 1/4 of what we carried in stock. First of all we sold a ton of Vortex, but we sold a bunch of Leupold too. Leupold has control of their manufacturing, Vortex doesn't. If I called Vortex to find out when a product would be back in stock, quite often I was given a lead time of 6-9 months. If Leupold was called the lead time was never more than six weeks, because they made their product in house.

I doubt Cabela's is phasing out Vortex, it is too popular. The problem Cabela's has with Vortex is getting enough inventory.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.
