This guy has been coming into one of my feeders consistently for the past two weeks. I'm thinking he's 3.5 years old but I'd love to hear what y'all think. I'm new on my lease in Stephens County so I'm trying to assess the quality of the deer herd we have and so far this is the best scoring buck I have a picture of. Is this typical of Stephens County? I've done most of my hunting down in the hill country.

Agree.

And at some point he had a very severe injury to his left front upper leg area.

Guys I agree with you here. First pic I thought he was ancient looking, all the age in the face.

The second pic made him look younger but look at the rump, baby's got back. Shoulders are thin, so he is old and on the way down. Scarred up knees from years of use. shield on the head from years of head butting...

Old buck

And that last picture look at the neck sag from the high shoulder, do you think that is from injury or just sign of old age??

I guess I need a little more practice at this haha It looked like to me that his neck hadn't filled out fully yet but I guess that's just due to old age. Thanks for the help guys. What do you think he would score?

He's regressing. Not much muscle remaining which is why he isn't filling out. Their faces will revert to a youthful look and they'll look almost malnourished (cuz they ain't got no teeth). Their hips and shoulder blades will look too large for their body. The final tell tale will be the loose skin on the body. Or corn falling out of their mouth while they try to eat.

I really think the deer is 8-10, but don't know the animals in that area for comparison's sake.
