Beings my bow messed up a few months ago I just now got the funds to purchase a new bow. I figured I would go crossbow this year beings I have been out of shooting for so long. I picked this crossbow up at academy for 300 after tax. So I saved a little cash as well. I got it home and started sighting it in with the bolts it came with. Groups very tight with field points. Put on muzzy x3s that I had for my compound and I missed the target twice. I figured I needed some heavier bolts. So I picked up some piledrivers and it's a lot better but I'm still only getting 6 inch groups at 20 yards. sorry for the long post, but I wanna know what's happening. Thanks

My broadheads are 100grain. Im not sure exactly what the piledrivers are. I know they're rated for bows 200lb draw. Mines 185 with 375 fps

Suspect your bow is out of time, yes you can time a crossbow

Make sure the scope is tight and not loose. Also, align your vanes as closely as possible to the blades of the fieldpoint if you haven't done so for spin purposes. At 375 fps, you will need to launch a slightly heavier bolt with probably a 125 gr. fieldpoint

It didn't clarify what the grain was on my practice tips it came with. I know my muzzys are 100gr. Maybe I should try 125gr broadheads? I hate to drop 30-40 bucks on some broadheads and it don't solve my issue

Most faster crossbows I've fired have recommended a minimum 425 gr. bolt weight with 125gr. broadhead.

Ok, I'll probably try that. See what happens. Or get me some mechanicals

Time a crossbow just like you would a compound bow. If you are around the North Dallas area I will time it for you. Where are you located?

Mechanicals would most likely help but there is still something causing it to do that. The Center Point crossbows like just about all other crossbows come with 100gr target points on the supplied bolts. I do find in most cases 125gr shoot better even though a few feet per second slower, but there is plenty speed with an Xbow anyway.

You may need to tune your bolts

The supplied bolts are garbage. I'm about to replace mine. But I'm still getting 2-3" groups with trocar broadheads at 20 yards. I'm not an expert, this is my first bow and I've shot less than 50 bolts, but it sounds like a bow issue, not a bolt/broadheads issue.

I have officially been bitten by the crossbow fever and decided I'm buying the same weapon so I'm eager to know as much as possible

Hitman Cabela's has them at 279.99 now and they will assemble the bow for you. They have a range for instruction and sight in. A staff member has to be on the range with you. when using the range

Update, I got some 125 gr muzzys. Shoots better, sounds quieter. But I think my main problem was bad bolts. I have one that will hit the mark every time. Another one that hits where ever it wants to with in 6 inches. And the last one always hits about 6 inches the left of where I'm aiming. so far I like it, just can't wait until I can start grouping

Try putting a different vane down in the groove on the two that don't shoot well (will need to reset nock). There are guys out there who check the spine on the arrows and align vanes so each arrow has the strong/weak point of the spine in the same place. It makes a big difference.

If you want to purchase some of the spine indexed arrows, check South Shore Archery. He is the crossbow arrow guru.

You might get better results with mechanical heads, or a different brand. I have heard several complaints about Muzzy's not shooting well.

With this bow I have had good luck with the Carbon Express Mayhams with 100 grain Trocar HBX brodheads.

I've read that the broadheads should match the weight of the field tips that come with the bolts. I got Carbon Express 20-inch Pile Driver bolts that come with 100 grain field tips but now I've read 125grain would be better for these bolts. Which is it? I need someone with experience to let me know. Going this weekend

You will be fine with the 100s, I just like the 125gr for crossbows. All the manufactures are shipping their bows with 100gr target points, gets them the advertised speed. If going to 125gr broadheads pickup some 125gr target points to match and sight in with them. On my Parker I get a little better accuracy with the 125s but we are talking about an inch tighter at 40 yards so no big deal at crossbow ranges. One inch groups compared to 2-2.5 inch groups at 40 yards isn't enough to worry about when shooting a deer in the lungs at 40 yards, still in minute of deer

So I was getting 2” groups with the supplies bolts, but I noticed one was cracking very slightly, so I bought 3 carbon express piledrivers and am now shooting 6” horizontal groups. All the same height, but spread out. Not sure what the issue is. I hope it’s not a scope issue, but I think it might be. Had a red dot die, and put the scope back on that came with it.

Bought my wife a Centerpoint Sniper 370 from Cabela’s last year. She shoots the 20” Cabela’s X-Bolt with a Rage 2” crossbow broadhead. The techs at Cabela’s set it up. It’s a great crossbow. Shoots tight groups.

Well no luck on a harvest yet, but I did get my entire family shooting my xbow at targets. All the way down to my 6 year old grandson who is shooting less than 2 inches off bullseye. I'm a proud man! Whole family hooked on my xbow now lol Christmas presents in the near future

I found that luminoc seems to throw my shot to the right of center. Anyone else have this problem? Or suggestions? Factory nock shoots dead [censored] but luminoc and I'm off to the right consistently

Well, I have an update with some pictures. A bit before season started I bought my FIL a pack of pile drivers with the lumi knocks. His bow didn't like them so he gave them to me. Well out of the 8 I had in total only 3 shot right. Crazy I know. This past saturday we got in stands at 5 because we were going to go into the night a few hours to see if hogs would show. We have game lights on our feeders. Well about 630 my eyes are getting heavy so I sent him a text saying I'm leaving at dark I'm tired. He replied back with I just shot a doe. I say good I'm on my way. Bout that time I hear something coming in behind me, so I txt him back and say I'm gunna hold up a minute I hear something. I put the phone down and turn to my left and there he was. I thought he was sure bigger than what he was before I shot. I thought he was taller due to the fact he never looked straight at me. I will say at 30 yards he jumped on that loud freaking bow. He was perfect broadside. My bolt went in at quartering towards me, in his neck and out his lower front leg. I was lucky to recover him. However my FIL shot his doe at 73 yards. Nailed her right in the honey hole. Crazy I know. He was shooting out of a box blind though so may have dampened some of the noise. Anyway here's some pictures. Sorry for the bad punctuation and grammer
