Wood pecker destroyed the lens on the motion sensor on game cam.

We have had at least four cameras in different areas have the sensor cover pecked out by turkeys.

My camera was at lease 4'-5' off of the ground as well. The way we knew it was turkeys was there were pictures of the turkey looking right at the camera doing a selfie. How they are able to do it with the camera that high off the ground is anybody's guess. We are covered up with turkeys as well.

This is probably my favorite video on this topic.

It is thought that the sounds made by the camera trick the woodpeckers into thinking there are insects inside of it.

I've had several ruined like that. You can buy frenzel lense material and repair them.

I've never had one ruined that was on a t post. Once I quit putting cameras on wooden posts or trees I haven't had any losses.

We have had a couple done that way. The last picture on the camera is a picture of the woodpecker looking into the lens and that is it.

I have a couple like that myself. Rancher, is that the magnifying lens material you use to replace it?

It's true hard work never killed anybody, but I figure, why take the chance.

Have had my place since 2011. Not until this year has a dang woodpecker pecked at the motion detection lens. My cams are in a kinda half box, attached with zip-ties and mounted on sawhorses. May have to go the t-post route.

Have had a problem with rats knawing the zip-ties in two.

Found one two weeks ago that had been attacked by a wood pecker.
