I ran across a company in the DFW area that makes their own thermal products for industrial use. I saw they had monaculars on the work bench and asked about them. The company expressed that they were working on said monaculars to market to hunters and ask if I was interested in testing one out when they were ready.

Tonight was the first night it was out in the field being tested. I was quiet impressed with the range and features.

I hate to give it back tomorrow but it sure was fun tonight.

maybe on the next test we can add a dvr for recording and give more details.

Very cool. Can you give us any info on the company or does it need to be kept under wraps for now?

Here is some of the info on the Thermal I was trying out.

Videos to come soon.

It was a ton of fun having the thermal over the weekend for additional testing.

When I had it out the first night I was seeing the heat signature of cows 4000 feet away, it was awesome!

See heat signature of the cows at 4000, could you identify easily, any other creatures you see and could identify?

Same thermal I saw at the SHOT show upstairs for new vendors. Was very interested. Went up , looked at it, was only one there, picked it up tried to turn it on. Couldn't figure it out. Stood looking at rep. He wasn't on his phone but looking at it. Figured whatever he was doing was more important than telling me about this "awesome" thermal. Oh well, and I walked off.

I will ask tomorrow if they were at the shot show and give them the feedback if they were.

We knew they were cows because we started during the day to get a base line of measurement with the range finder. A cow is a large heat source just as the freeway was beyond the cows.

At that distance identifying the heat source is based on movement and speed of movement.
Over this past weekend I was in various places testing. This included heavy woods in the city to wide open places in East Texas. I had no problem identifying species either by shape or movement paterns.

I think I'd rather buy something from a business in the thermal business, not someone making a one off. Don't see anything unique or innovative there.

That is what makes America great, you can have an opinion even if you don't know all the facts and information.

OK, since you're obviously the thermal expert now with your smartass comment, what is new and innovative about that device? Enlighten us please...

So they are producing a relicensed version of the Eotech/L3 X320 Thermal Eye?

not really, I have better things to do with my life than to argue on a forum.

That x320 has been made by about 5 different vendors. It's 5 year old technology too. Eotech X320, Raytheon at one point. Couple other's I'm forgetting. There was an 80, a 160, and several other versions too.
