My 8 year old Setter is experiencing some left hip pain after runs. I'm sure over the years y'all have had dogs with this problem. Do you have a medicine that you would recommend? Thanks.

My 9 YO GSP is on Vetprophen for pain in his front leg. Doc said it was either arthritis or bone cancer. If the meds didn't ease it we would have to talk amputation because it was BC. But he probably would be gone in short order because that cancer metastasizes so fast. I wish my docs were that blunt.
Thank goodness it worked, that old mutt aint worth much to anybody but me.

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

You could try glucosamine. Gun dog supply carries a 2x strength dose.

I have had good luck using Dasoquin to help my older dogs. I give them one in the morning every day and one more in the afternoon if we're hunting. Seems to help quite a bit.

Big fan of Cosequin Sport, got a 10 year old that was coming up toe touching with some knee swelling on one of her front legs three months ago, about once every 10 days. More energy now and has not shown any signs of issues on the leg since I started giving her the Cosequin
