I was curious if anyone has played with this bullet yet. With a G7 BC of .401, that is a MONSTER of a BC. I'm pushing the 195 Berger EOL at ~3000 fps now, and was thinking about trying the 180 ELD-M. With a similar BC and 100+ fps faster speeds, that would make a really good ultra long range bullet.

Get some. Let's put em in my 7 Rem Mag with the same powder charge I run 180 VLDs.

Or buy my 284 and I'll test them out in my new 7-300 when I build it.

With the much higher BC than the 180 Berger's, it's a no brainer.

I'm just wondering if I want to put them in my 7mm/300 Win Mag and run them at 3150-3200 fps. I think that's too fast for what I am wanting.

I'd be skeptical of te bc being legit.

Chad, run the numbers on both. Look at wind drift, and energy. I bet you find they can't hang with the 195's out of your 7-300. But remember, the 195's are so slow, out of my 7 Rem Mag, that they can't hang with the 180's. Of course you know, this is a balancing act, and in this case, the fulcrum is almost razor thin.

Yes, I ran the numbers comparing the 2. The 180 ELD-M had a slight advantage over the 195, but very slight. And that is IF the bc of the 180 ELD-M is correct, which I am very skeptical of. I don't know how you can get a .401 G7 bc with a lighter bullet than the 195, and the length be almost identical to the 180 Hybrid. If the 180 ELD-M bc drops a little bit, the 2 bullets would be almost equal. It's hard to beat the 195 EOL.

How did Sierra get a 155 TMK .30 cal to have a G-1 of .517?

I have no idea, but they dang sure did it.

Everything I've herd from people who have actually shot them is the Bc is legit. I actually am building a straight 284 at the moment and just got a 8tw barrel for it. Going to find it for myself... lol. But, honestly... having talked to people I would trust it sounds like it's the real deal! up

I can let y'all know possibly in a week or so. Bullets will not arrive in time to test in NM this weekend but should know by the the next week. Plan to run them to 1000 vs the 195's and see what they can do.

I'm wanting to try the ELDx in my .284WIN, I'm using 180 hybrids now. The main reason is I swapped to the ELDx's in my sons 6.5CM and they do a better job on deer than the bergers IMO. Still fighting neck tension on my .284, the bushing (.311) is actually scarring the neck and I don't want to have to turn the necks, I'm already using a mandrel to get to 7mm (6.5x284 lapua brass).

Is your brass clean when neck sizing the cases? If the dies or bushing gets scratched from dirty brass, it will keep scarring them up. But it shouldn't scratch them up if you are using clean brass.

Not related to this thread but I'd like to read more about your vld to eldx comparisons. I've been looking for some real unbiased experience with the eldx bullets.

I have shot the 180-m out to 1100 yrds. I don't have a chrono and needed to adjust my speed at 1100 yards.

If my original speed was correct, then the BC is around .777.

I will reshoot all distance with the new adjusted speed. I'm hoping the .796 holds with that speed for all ranges.

I'm building a 28 nosler myself. I shot the 1100 yrds in the unbedded savage stock. It is sitting in a new Boyd's stock waiting for the devcon 10110 to cure now. I'll be testing the 180-m again in a minute or two.

Hope this helps.

If you are using a coated redding bushing they have a tendency to scratch unless lubed well despite they are said to not need it.
