This last year I had the worst problems ever with wasps and hornets in my hunting blinds. I used foggers but they wouldn't kill everything and then by the next weekend I would have a blind full again. Has anyone used the no pest strips by raid. Someone told me they would keep them out.

Yes & yes they work!! The brand I used was Gulf but I'm guessing they are the same thing as Raid. Caution though, remove from blind while you are in it - definitely NOT healthy!

Pretty similar. I use Talstar Pro spray. No bugs at all. I spray the outside of the blind as well.

on another note, I hate the rascals buzzing in and out during a hunt. So I cut window screens and used super magnets to attach the screens so if i need to take them down when the big boy arrives, it's a simple tug of the screen. I used the washer type with a screw to the frame, and a solid magnet on the outside portion of the screen.

Permethrin is the way to go. You can also spray it in your box blind... don't breath it in or go in there for a day but it will kill ticks, spiders and about anything that crawls or flies. Do this every 3 months or so and you will have no problems. Also has no odor.

I have found that with wasps, it is best to look for them in spring when they first start to build the nests. That way there is only a very few of them and they are easier to kill and knock down the nest. If you wait too long, then the nest is big, there's more of them, and during the day there are always a few of them out away from the nest, so when you spray the nest, a few minutes later there's some back flying around. If the nest is big, you'll have to wait till dark when they're all on the nest. They don't fly at night.

When if first starts to warm up in the spring, look for them and kill them as soon as you see them. They are a lot easier to get rid of then.

Not sure about hornets.

Hot shot no pest strip. Easy and done. Been using them for a few years and cheap easy way to hunt year round with no issues on older not sealed blinds. We just use them end of Sept and they do the job as they only try to move in when it starts getting cold. We have used them on so called sealed blinds and have hundreds dead on the groud. Otherwise, opening day is miserable.

Red wasps, also known as mahogany wasps are the devil here in East Texas. Compared to them, nothing else bothers me. They are very aggressive, very mean and their sting is the most painful that I've ever encountered. A good friend that has had his own exterminating business for 30 years told me that in his experience, the best way to keep them away is to spray a solution of half water and half dish soap on everything. They do not like the soap residue. I haven't tried this, but if they show up again after what I am using fails, I'll give this a try.

I never heard of the Hot Shot No Pest Strips before and will give them a try.

I tried Talstar and found that it works for most bugs, but not red wasps.

LambdaStar UltraCap 9.7 is what I've been using with good results. There are two versions that I'm aware of. The UltraCap is the one for wasps. It will burn your eyes and skin if you get it on you, so be sure to use protection.
