My good hunting and shooting buddy convinced me to make a quick deer lease trip to do some long range shooting and night hunting Fri night. We have feeders going off at my stand at 10 pm and 12 midnight at the other stand (hit one, then the other). Dinner ran long, so we missed my 10 pm feeding, so we headed out at 11 to set up at the other one. We got in the stand about 11:40, and not more than 5 minutes later, we see a bright white spot in the thermal scope roaming around at the feeder. It was a big boar by himself. We get on him and wait for him to settle in. The pig turns broad side a little behind the feeder, which ends up about 120-130 yards away. We do a count down 3-2-1-FIRE! Perfectly executed, simultaneous fire, and the pig drops. He's doing the funky chicken, so I dump a few more rounds into him. My buddy just got a new FLIR RS32 thermal scope, and we set it up on his 8" suppressed 300 blk out. I'm running a 16" suppressed 300 blk out. Both of us are running my 125 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip ammo. After the 2 initial shots and a couple why not shoot one more, pig is done. He's about a 200-220 lb boar, and was a stinky son of a gun! This was my buddies first pig kill with a thermal, and his first with his new rifle and thermal scope. After this excitement, we set up for some coyote calling, but managed to only shoot 2 rabbits. A 300 blk out, 125 grain on a rabbit at about 30 yards makes for a very impressive thermal explosion at night! We had a blast!
