it is hard to bear the 123gr SST for economy and performance. I have loaded up the 129gr Accubond LR but no hogs have cooperated yet for a test. Lots of options will work though
Barnes, Cavity back, GMX for mono metal bullets. Seep penetration for sure
130gr Berger VLD hunting seems to penetrate well per DNS testing of them
Hornady SST has been getting it done since it came out as a SAAMI cartridge
Nosler BT works as well
At the lower velocities standard cup and core bullets like SST and BT work well since they are not over their velocity usefulness in the mile mannered Grendel
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch

I have to agree with kmon1, the Hornady SST 123 gr. bullet (and factory ammo) is just plain hard to beat in regard to accuracy, terminal performance, and expense. The SST may stay (mostly) together even if much of the bullet has been worn away via penetration. This happens sometimes. More often, it seems, the bullet comes apart inside of the hog, creating multiple small wound channels and leaving bullet debris along the way. It is going to result in a goodly amount of meat loss if you don't choose your shot wisely.
With that said, the Berger VLD-Hunting 130 gr. ammo is impressively destructive more so than any other bullet that I have seen, but this is not a round you want to use if you are meat hunting as is comes apart and penetrates deeply most of the time, damaging and contaminating tissue in a large area along its swath. If cost was not an issue, this would be the round I would use all the time for hog eradication.
If I was meat hunting, the monolithic bullets such as Hornady GMX or Cavity Back Bullets MKZ seem to do very well with drilling holes through the hog and not contaminating meat with lead particles. These even seem to do well with lighter weight bullets. I am testing the CBB MKZ in 118 and 105 gr. right now and while the 105 works, I think I would have to go with the 118 gr. which tends to have slightly large permanent wound cavities.
