Decided to get back on my in-laws place out in Terrell County and boy have I forgot how far and rough the drive is (90 miles West North West of Del Rio)

Got both feeders set-up on a limestone flat (the flat is about 80 foot higher than the canyon floor and my stand will be another 50-60 higher in elevation than the feeders)

Last year was the first time in 27 years for feeding protein on their property and this same spot hasn't had a feeder in 18 years. Looking forward to my oldest boy getting his first animal (whitetail, mulie, auodad, and javelina are all possibilities)

Cool bowl. I hunt out that way, north of Sanderson. About 5 hours from home.

Good luck to you and your boy.

The only people that drive further than some of you boys over there are those crazy Cajuns.

Yep, that's what sold me on this lease. Strictly controlled and we rotate between culls and "trophies" within our group.

I'm curious?

whats the trophy quality like in that area?

I know the Longfellow has some good bucks, along with some whopper elk. I drive 285 coming back home from time to time

('Sorry about the hijack titan.)

A couple from from last year:

Mine from year before last, old, what I'd consider a cull.

Some nice mule deer. My in-laws have them, but not in big numbers.

It's a good place to get away from it all and with no cell signal there's no distractions. Hard to believe the terrain difference just moving from Val Verde to Terrell County.

Our place is in Sanderson. Big, hard country. 9 hours from Melissa, and the worst part of the drive is getting outside Ft. Worth. After that, I don't mind it.

There is a dirt runway on our place. We really should go in together and buy a plane. smile

I mentioned the plane idea to my FIL during the trip and his response was "is the drive really that bad?"

I said while driving 2 mph going uphill in 4W Low "I don't imagine it's too bad sitting in the passenger seat glassing for mulies" roflmao

Used to hunt the place with the runway. Was friends with a previous owner. It is even a farther drive when you are coming from Nacogdoches.
