I went out with a buddy of mine on his place in Burnet County yesterday afternoon. He had never shot a turkey before. So I told him I would do the calling, and all he had to do was shoot. Well by the end of the evening he had shot one Tom that had a 9 3/4" beard, 1+" spurs, and weighed 18 lbs. I had shot a Jake with a 4" beard. He was able to cap off the afternoon with another Tom that had an 8 1/2" beard, 1+" spurs, and weighed 20 lbs. All three were at different locations and setups. I can honestly say that was the best 2 hours of turkey hunting I've ever been apart of.

I grew up hunting all around Burnet county (early '60s thru current) and there were very few turkey to be found years ago ... They seem to have really grown in numbers the last 20 or so years

Yes I would say so. We saw 15-20 gobblers that afternoon altogether. Lots of birds in that area.
