I'm not asking you. I'm telling you. You can argue with me until the cows come home, but nothing beats iceberg lettuce when you are making a fresh garden salad.

If you're going to use iceberg lettuce then you should make a wedge salad.
Thank me later.

Thank me later. And pass up my home grown tomatoes? No way. I can eat a wedge salad 10 months of the year, but home grown tomatoes are in for only about two months. Ever read a book called "The Help?" The maid was trying to teach the newly wed how to cook. She told her that you have to learn to cook what's in. My tomatoes are in and I'm eating them three times a day. This morning it was a BLT. It's a turkey bacon club for lunch and a fresh garden salad with my shrimp scampi tonight.

Tomatoes are part of a good wedge salad!! Just dice them and put over the wedge.
Let's not get crazy here.

Iceberg lettuce is best served on a sandwich, plenty of other wonderful greens out there, IMO

. . . .And pass up my home grown tomatoes? No way. . .
^ ^ ^ ^ this ^ ^ ^ as long as i have fresh tomatoes from the garden, i'll fit them into every meal somehow, or just eat them by themselves. a tomato from the grocery store is a completely different thing than a fresh tomato from the garden. different flavor different texture. i can eat a plate of sliced fresh tomatoes like it was candy.

Bingo. That's what I try to tell people about a fried bologna sandwich. It's the tomato that counts. Same with tuna or chicken salad. They will all be on my lunch menu for May and June.

I can eat homegrown tomatoes multiple times a day, everyday for quite a while. There are so many different ways to use them. Your shrimp scampi looks great.
