Night Force ATACR F-1
5-25X 56mm
Mil-C reticle (just came out)
12 Mils per rev is different, but 1200 yards and less will keep most cartridges on the first rev.

Image quality is what one would expect from NF. I just shot 1 MOA steel 400-800 yards and it did a fine job. This is day 1. There will be a full review in a couple of weeks.

My bank account hurts, but so far I'm trying to enjoy the quality of the scope. It's wonderful!

I keep telling myself that ten years from now, when this scope is still as good as it is today, I won't regret what I spent.

A month from now you will still enjoy the scope and have forgotten all about the sting in the wallet.

One great rifle with one great scope is a real joy in life.

And fwiw - my first NF NXS still is as good today as it was more than ten years ago, and that is with many miles in the rearview mirror too.

Toughness was in the top three. Too many reports of shooters, and soldiers that have punished NF scopes, and the scopes keep on going.

An old Fire Chief said "firemen can tear up an anvil with a loaf of bread".

No such thing in this world as "firemen proof", so I figured I'd get one that was as fireman resistant as possible.

With quick-detach rings, you could probably yank it off the rifle and use it for a club if you had to. Probably would hold zero too.

I'm close to QD.

1/2" wrench, socket, channel locks, Leatherman...

But I bet it would hold zero. Look up the NF torture test. It really hurts my feelings, but the scope does hold zero.

Dude! No! Buy a Seekonk 65 in/lb torque wrench and it comes on and off in a matter of seconds and returns to zero or darned close. Also, will prevent cracking the rings due to overtightening, or coming loose due to undertightening. The vast majority of time, stuff is overtightened though. Degrease the threads with gun scrubber or similar and then add a drop of blue loctite. Correct and uniform tension in mounting also assures correct tracking.

Use 20 - 25 in/lbs up top.

Meh...I'd use a sixteen-inch 3/4" drive extension handle and a 1/2" socket on it. It'll come loose otherwise.

rofl Gotcha!

I use an inch pound torque wrench on everything on the rifle/ scope. The wrench never leaves my truck.

Welcome to the NF world. Your pain will fade with each turn of the dial. My first NF is 8 years old and never wished I had the $ back

I'm not handicapped like RH shooters. Turrets rotate the same direction as every other scope I've owned.

cheers

Set the wrench for half the torque I want.

Back ring, back left, back right.
Front ring, back left, back right
Back ring, front left, front right.
Front ring front left, front right.

Making sure the gap between ring cap is equal on both sides.

Repeat the whole process over, at full torque setting.

Nice! I have really been eyeing that exact scope or one with the t3 reticle.

Tremor 3 was on the short list. I couldn't find a good pic of it at high magnification where I could really study it. It first glance it looks too busy. So I went with a scope that's fantastic for wind, but not as great at pure holds.

I thought the same until getting a good look through a few. It really isn't bad at all. I had a pic a while back I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: Here it is. Not sure what magnification though. I believe team AI is getting t3 reticle in their nf and several okies have switched (how I've got to look through a few) with success.

Good looking setup JG! The sting to the wallet will fade. That scope will pay dividends on the investment. As for the tremor or Horus reticles, I am not knocking anyone style, I personally do not find them busy or obtrusive in any way and that was my first time being behind one. For holding over there is no faster way to shoot.
