May have to make a purchase. Been looking at the Fury Fierce. My barrel is so dang heavy I've been eyeing the edge in 28 and 26 N. Just shouldered a couple of these yesterday at Cabelas. They are light and finished out nicely. I'm sure I would love having one. Colt45 just got one in 6.5 CM.

Overall...I tend to shoot a well balanced 7 1/2 - 7 3/4 lb all up rifle - aka ammo, sling, scope w/rings & rifle - "better" than anything a lb less or a lb more...and thats been my history since I first pulled a trigger on a Centerfire Hunting Rifle at 23.
In the Mulligan Effort of the last year or two, I've exceeded those parameters a tad both ways...and will prove or disprove that weight paradign target if I ever get through working on the rehab of this old house. In the last 50 years of shooting CF's the only thing I've changed these days as a sop to advancing Geezerhood, is to shy away from shooters with or without belted cases and exceed 58-60 grains of powder & get into smaller bore sizes under 308 diameters.
We'll see if the new sub 7lb'ers will prove me wrong, and nothing in the new stuff is over 8lbs All Up but then I haven't weighed anything on a USPS scale either...but then IMO a few oz's deviation can be absorbed by better balance on the shoulder when looking at fur.
Back in the old days I did however take my morning mile walk/jog carrying a barbell weighted bar to emphasize hand & forearm strength...with NO safari styled over the shoulder cheating, and will start that again this fall only using some wussified wimmens 3lb hand barbells. Ron

For the average Texas hunter who bench rest hunts from a deer deer blind, a 10-12 pound gun for the grueling 200 yard trek to the deer blind isn't an issue. Some guys are into the challenge of building a lighter rifle (or a shorter rifle) and I think it has little to do with the fact that they are psychically incapable. Its a hobby, go with it. Now for mountain hunting and walking long distances, I would want something lighter.

Mine is a tad over 14 lbs, fully loaded and geared up. I blind hunt. I car hunt. I spot and stalk hunt. I carried that rifle (no sling), a camp chair, Shockwave caller, and tripod trigger sticks a total of 3.5 miles last night stalking around one of my landowners' properties. Once you get some muscle built up, it isn't so bad. What the heck. It is my rig and it does well for me.

Danged Shockwave is awkward as heck for carrying, I put a string loop on it, and it's always gettin in the way when I close the speakers,

If you blind hunt it doesn't matter. If you do a mix of styles but mostly on level/semi-level ground, I would stay below 9 lbs all in. If you are mountain/backpack hunting, I would stay under 8 lbs all in. 7-8 is even better. A lighter gun tends ta have more kick & if ya worried bout tooting a lb or two while wondering about the woods, don't hunt public land unless ya got a mule ta back pack your cull out... Just my

My RPR scoped, suppressed, and loaded (10 rounds 308) is 15.6 pounds normally only shoot prone.
My night hunting rig 8" 300BLK with XSight, external battery, suppressed, and loaded (20 rounds of 300BLK) is 11.4 pounds. Not terrible, according to my phone I stalked 5 miles last weekend with it. A good sling makes a big difference.

A good sling makes a big difference. That's a fact! On an AR, a Viking Tactics padded makes all the difference in the world. My next stock is coming with flush cups on the side so I can carry a bolt action slung the same way I do an AR.

Carry my RPR same way but with a more padded sling.

My primary hunting rifle hasn't been weighed but it's pretty stout. I'd guess around 15lbs. The scope is 2lbs, suppressor is almost a pound, m40 profile barrel, etc. No sling on it and stalk with it quite a bit. If I want light, I grab a lever gun.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

My normal weapon of choice at my deer lease is 14lbs. I am planning a bush plane drop hunt in Alaska and I am having to meet a 50 gear weight limit so I purchased a Kimber (4.6 naked) mountain ascent in a 300wsm. This is one of if not the lightest guns on the market. Yes I was apprehensive about a light gun kicking like a mule but with the muzzle break that came on it I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with its production on range. I have been told not to push that barrel by shooting round after round at the range so I just let it cool after every shot to never have an issue.
Good luck!!

A little over 14 lbs. That's my Rem 700 5R Milspec with a VX-6, stock pack and bipod. I always have a second rifle as a back up, which is now a Tikka CTR, both in .308. It goes with me when I'm not planning on hunting my tower blind, which is getting more and more frequent.

May have to make a purchase. Been looking at the Fury Fierce. My barrel is so dang heavy Just FYI, per Fierce's website "The FURY comes with a 1/2-inch group guarantee as do all Fierce rifles but does not come with the certified target. Certifying the accuracy is left up to the shooter." I don't know about you, but I have a problem with a company that does this. They ship out the rifle unfired, and have no clue how that rifle shoots when sending it out. I have shot one of their rifles that left their shop bad, and ended up needing a new barrel. I spent lots of ammo and time trying to dial it in, with bad results. They fixed it, but it should not have been in the shape it was when it left their shop with their "Guarantee". Just my thoughts.

That really is a ridiculous guarantee for sure. Almost as bad is Cooper Firearms, and the target they do provide. What they don't tell you is that it was shot at 50 yards.

Good luck!! Kimber website shows Mountain Ascent in .300 WSM to weigh 5lbs. 12 oz. I think you will be glad it does not weigh 4.6.

NOG P you are somewhat right. The mountain ascent smallest calibers start at 4 lbs 13 oz, and my 300wsm weighs 5 lbs, 10 oz. This thing is louder than [censored] but the recoil is not bad at all. I definitely pleased with his weapon!!!

Yes, but also will have a grizzly tag - thus the .30 cal. If not for that I would take my Nosler Custom 48 in .270 WSM. Sako weighs 7 1/2 lbs fully rigged and Nosler weighs 7 1/4 lbs fully rigged IIRC. They both "fit" me perfectly so I shoot them well - which is my main criteria (besides weight) in a mountain rifle. I'm guessing your Ascent will weigh about 7 lbs fully rigged - depends on your choice of scope.
