I've been thinking about getting a new lab sometime in the near future. I'd like to find a dog that is a family pet first but also is good at retrieving (mainly for dove). Someone suggested Cross G Farms out of Lovelady, Texas. Has anyone had any experience with them?

No experience at all. However there are plenty of good opportunities to buy dogs available. Especially in Texas. They are all like miles per gallon and taxes though when it comes to conversation. Everyone's is the best. Not sure if your looking for a started dog or a puppy.

Be certain to buy a genetically sound dog and picking a pup out of a litter is like rolling the dice. Finding a quality litter is the main thing. Depending on the breeder or seller go look at their facilities and watch several of their dogs work.

There are several good sites with an abundant information to look up pedigrees, health clearances, performance information, ect..

Main ones I consult are huntinglabpedigree.com retrieverresults.com and the OFA website.

Went and viewed their website and it personally wouldnt be my choice for buying a puppy. The had limited genetic information posted. I saw hips and elbow numbers on a few dogs but not all. Nothing in regards to EIC, CNM, PKD, PRA.

They also reference crossing show lines and hunting lines. Red flag for me and after a quick glance i only saw one dog with a background in hunting/trials.

I know you said Lab, but if you're flexible, take a look at the drathaars. I've been out of the bird dog and Lab business for almost 8 years, but if I ever went back, it would be for a drathaar. The main reasons are the lack of saturation of the bloodlines and those dogs are extremely versatile. Google Vomkervinshof kennels. They're in Oklahoma and the owner's breeding stock are all imported from Germany and he's extremely picky when it comes to breeding. He trains all of his dogs himself and they all hunt everything you could imagine and scent trail as well. Good luck on your search and be patient. It'll be worth it. I waited over a year for my male jagdterrier and I'm still waiting for my female from vomkervinshof and by the time I get her I'll have waited almost 2 years.
