Good or bad?

Likely getting a rather large lease this year and a 30 min 4 wheeler ride on cool morning isn't appealing. My truck is only 2WD so looking at other options.

Depends on how much work you are capable of. Had a guy on my lease with one and to be completely honest it was a giant pile of crap. Burned more oil than gas and was always broken. I'm sure there are good ones out there but for the price an older 4x4 is probably cheaper and more reliable.

Find somethin old, if it's without a title who cares if you're going to use it off road only..

My parents had a daihatsu hijet on the farm that they used for fixing fence, or whatever smaller tasks they had to do. Had the opportunity to drive it a few times when I was back home on vacation.

The cab was small, 2 adults max. Top speed 45-50 mph, heated cab, 4wd. Lots of room in the bed for hauling deer back to camp.

They have had it for years, and the old man has little patience for equipment that doesn't just "work" so if it were high maintenance I'm sure it would have been sold long ago. If you can find one in good working order, keep up with the regular maintenance, and keep it out of the lake/mud bog, it should work just fine.

Just my 2c

my BIL found a clean used Isuzu Trooper 4x4 that worked great and would go anywhere. He built one of the receiver hitch platforms that hinged up when not in use that you could pull a pin to lay flat to load a deer on, then ratchet strap it down for the haul back to camp.

one of their other hunters had one of the mini trucks and they were continually working on it and somewhat hard to find parts. Maybe just a bad one to start with?

I know 3 people who have them. Two spend a fair amount on them, but they have been great machines and are in good condition.

The third bought his for next to nothing. It wouldn't idle most of the time, but was a pretty capable little vehicle. It was obvious that it had been used and abused. With any kind of maintenance I think it would have been a much better vehicle. I wouldn't buy a used and abused beat up one.

Its already been said but, get a solid older 4x4 with a good motor and transmission.

From my camp to my leased premises is 5 miles one way on rocky trails and dirt roads. My '84 Bronco II 4x4 with heat makes all the difference on cold mornings for me.
