We picked up a small pasture from our LO in SE Coke county between Bronte & Tennyson....anyone familiar with the area? We're headed down to check it out this weekend. It's small (only 250 acres) but we're hoping it will work out for another stand site/option.

I hunt just West of Blackwell.
Should see lots of deer numbers. Most of the nicer bucks range from 110-115" and some pushing 120-125 from what I have seen. I did have one on camera that should have pushed 140 but he was only seen on cams and disappeared as season opened. A lot will depend on your area and neighbors though. We have a ton of hogs but are hit or miss in some areas based on what has been discussed here on the forum.
Good luck to ya.

Quantity over quality is the theme of that area. Anything over 110 is impressive. It's a lot of fun.

Thanks for the info fellas....I only have pics to go by but 1/2 of the pasture is wheat and the other looks like STexas brush...very thick srub. LO says there are plenty of deer and that the previous lease holder killed some good bucks (his definition of course)....110-130 will be just fine as we'd be setting up a blind for my son on this place and I think he'll like the numbers.
....what's the snake situation like?....are snake boots a must?
Our main lease is NE of Shep so we're not far from you in Blackwell. I'll get a better idea this weekend but we're trying to decide if the extra 35 mile drive south is worth adding this pasture.....after all....that's a 70 mile round trip from camp per hunt....that could get old quick...

Snake boots are a MUST pretty much year round!! We saw rattlesnakes into December this last year if I remember correctly. You are correct. That video I sent you of that Rattler was late December. And there are some BIG Rattlers out that way! Last year I ran across one that was probably the second biggest one I have ever seen in my life. I was coming back from town on one of the dirt county roads just before our front gate and there was a massive one laying in the road! His girth was every bit as big as my lower leg. I am not sure Snake boots would have prevented a bite or not given his size. He could have easily hit me above the boots if he wanted but aint no way I would be caught dead out there without snake boots on unless its really cold! Good boots are cheap insurance and can save your life!!!!!

The buck in my sig was 122" and is upper class for our area. When we go HWY 277 to Miles, we turn on FM 2333 and usually see a few deer, FM2333 is not a road that we speed on or drive at night.

Spent the day there last weekend and saw lots of rubs and bumped a few deer. Land owner did tell us there were axis on the place from time to time. Set up a feeder and camera so I'm curious to see what's been visiting it when we go back in a few weeks to set up feed pens and blinds.

I have seen some big axis in Tennyson idk where this place is exactly. I don't think you wil be disappointed. As long as the neighboring hunters don't kill everything that walks. I guide and sell hunts on the 208 ranch few miles back south from Tennyson on 277 and there are 130 class deer there. Most of the land west of the hwy 277 is we'll managed deer and big ranches but I be leave it starts breaking up in to section and 1/2 section ranches back towards bronte so idk how well managed it is.
