Headed south to San Marcos this weekend and both spots are on the menu. I'm going to be in a BBQ coma after the weekend.

hope you enjoy smittys the last couple of times ive been the food has been below par bigtime. Blacks is my go to now when im in the area.

There are a couple places in San Marcos. Black's in San Marcos, not as good as Blacks in Lockhart but does have a full bar. San Marcos BBQ on Hunter Rd. Owners family has the Chisholm trail BBQ in Lockhart.

Mueller in Taylor is one of the top choices for me. Smitty's in lockhart would be way down the list there the last few times I've been. Black's and kruetz are much better consistently with Chisholm in third.

Mueller's is still top notch. I agree with those that say Smitty's in Lockhart has gone downhill. The last couple of trips have been disappointing.
