Went out to "run my raccoon trap line" this morning, and as I was sitting in the truck close to one of the traps I'd just checked, I see this dude creep out into a clearing about 100 yards away. He was busy hunting something in the tall grass, making occasional pounces, and not looking out for anything else. Cats are normally pretty good at the old "situational awareness" thing, but he had some fresh field mouse on his mind. I slowly opened the door, rested the .223 on the top of it and whacked him with 62 grains of Sierra's finest. He ran about 10 feet and piled up under a small mesquite. Notice that I was all decked out, head to toe, in my camo!

Beautiful cat. Most of the ones I have shot are very tawny...not nearly so pretty.

I was out in west TX last weekend and was on my way back to camp and a small bobcat jumped out in front of my truck around midnight and ran down the road in front of me for about 40 yds. Pretty cool to see.
