This had to be the worst case of mange I have seen in person on a coyote yet. It even has stuff going on with funk on the shoulders. And did she stink! Other than the skin issues, she seemed healthy, well fed. She looks skinny, but she was solid, not bony. Still, I think putting her down probably alleviated a lot of discomfort for her.

No autopsy on this one? I don't blame you, I wouldn't touch it either.

Brian, I shot one of these 2 months ago. It was scary to look at and didn't want to get too close to it so I just left it where it lay. That was a big mistake. No vulture, coyote or hog would eat or drag it off so it just lay there for way too long. It was there 2 weeks later unfortunately just 150 yards from my favorite night hunting spot. The stink was so bad I had to pack it up early and go elsewhere. Wish I still had the photo now to post but it spooked me so much I removed it from my phone and computer. It haunts me to this day.

I normally text photo's of my kills to my son so I had him send me the photo. Here it is; I lost five pounds of weight after shooting this thing... think I will skip lunch today.

I've shot them like that and picked them up in contest. No big deal, just a hairless dog.
