My mom lived in Cactus, they had a roof vent in the bathroom, and that is how they got in and out of the house. they would crawl out that vent and walk right off the roof on to a snow bank. My grandfather bought all the canned biscuits that the store had, the front door swung in so he stuck the biscuits in the snow bank to keep them refrigerated.
Thank You Robert

NOAA : Five Worst Snowstorms In US History All Occurred Before 1960 5) “PANHANDLE BLIZZARD OF 1957” March 22-25, 1957 A strong area of low pressure developed along the lee of the Rocky Mountains in late March of 1957. This storm interacted with cold air in place across the Plains states to create a rare and devastating spring blizzard across the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles. A widespread 10-20 inches of snow fall across the area with reported snow drifts of 15 to 30 feet! Travel was impassible with many snowplows becoming stranded as well. Across the Panhandle region 20 percent of the cattle population was lost from this storm. Image from Texas Co-Op

Wow, drove that area last week and tried to explain to my wife and kids that yes that area really does get big snow although at the time with some and near some records highs last week it was really greening up. Thanks to those that posted the pics.
