Just bout a 6.5 creedmoor now the hard part what scope to get??? Trying to stay around 300 give or take. Going to do some hunting and long range target shooting with it. 1000 yard [censored] is my goal though I've like to get further. May be asking too much for a 300ish dollar scope. Any suggestions?

Look at Athlon scopes for sure. They're probably the most capable scopes in your budget.

Sightmark is a joke.

Athlon has not proven itself.

SS is legit, and has more than proven itself.

6-24x50 Talos BDC 600 IR mil dots recticals product #215012

Mildots are super fine and hard to see for my old eyes.... guessing they are about 1/16 inch dots

Another vote for the SWFA SS. However, to me if hunting is on the agenda stick to the 10x. Even 10x can be too much magnification for hunting, but it will work ok and also do fine for targets to 1,000. The 6x fixed is really nice for hunting, but weak for paper, so 10x is the best compromise. But SS's track nicely, are durable and a great value.

I have an SWFA 16x42. Awesome scope, but you're going to be limited in FOV on the top and bottom end for shooting from 25-1000 yards with both hunting optical quality and precision shooting accuracy. Hard to buy a $300 scope for that application. That being said, I think you're fine to stay in that price range. Even doubling it, I'm not sure you'd have something that could really handle your application adequately. So buy the $300 scope and then upgrade to a really nice piece of glass later.

the best thing you can do is go to a store such as cabelas spotmans ETC. and compare them for yourself ! Or order one from optics planet ! Free shipping ,,,look it over and if you dont like its free to ship back !

Dont listen to the common thread jackers here , they are not worth listening to !

I would say the bottom line is cheap optics are cheap for a reason. Especially long term. I would seriously look at some better used scopes. There are plenty out there and there is nothing wrong with buying better optics that have been previously purchased. Most warranties are still in effect.

Sightmark and optics planet would not be the direction I would look at.

Bet all you want. It's already been proven you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

And most of the guys in this thread have stood on my real rifle range and shot real bullets, some 800 yards away.

So you go ahead and try to discredit me, new guy.

You can find some good deals if you don't get in a hurry. Also, stretch your budget some-buy once, cry once. I got a brand-new Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 Illum BTR-Mil Scope ET6245FJ, normally $999 or more, for a little over $600 from Midway on clearance.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Spend another 150 bucks and buy the SS 3-15x42 Tac Scope which is on sale right now for 449.95. Stock #
SS315X42MQ2KIT at swfa.com

IMO you will then cover your hunting and 1K+ shooting on a budget.

In long range shooting to a extent you have to pay to play, optics plays a big role in shooting out to 1k and beyond.
