I am having bad luck with moultree trail cams. I have bought about 12 Moultree cameras...my last one was bought about a year ago..barley out of warranty range. I cannot afford to buy a trail camera every year. I will be looking for a new source to buy my next camera. I use the cameras each year to do surveys. Hope I will find a camera that will last more than one year....yet will not break the bank. Looking for some recommendations. thanks

The M80s used to be good cams, but we have had poor luck with the last couple modeks as well. Seems like they tried to make them fancier and made them worse. The night IR flash has failed in the first 3 months on ~50% or so.
I'll be researching an affordable alternative moving forward, we have about 17 cams going on the ranch.

I have had good luck with Moultrie 880's, better luck with Bushnell, and terrible luck with Wildgame Innovation. Search this site and you will find several "Ford vs Chevy" threads on trail cams.

I gave up on Moultrie and went with the Browning trail cams. I have one that I have been using for three year the other two years with no problems.

Im a big Browning strike force supporter. Now have 4 running, 2 are over 3 years old. Night time pics are good enough, day time pics are top notch. Find them on sale for $89-$99 fairly often and thats when I buy.

I have had good luck with the Browning Strike Force and the new smaller Cuddebacks. Try to keep your cameras out of direct sunlight. I see you are in Dewitt county and I believe that our hot Texas sun has "cooked" it's share of game cameras. For feed pens that are out in the open, I mount a small wood box on the south side of the pen and then mount my camera inside of the box to help keep it out of the sun.

I have had good luck with Browning and Covert cameras. I have some friends that run Stealth cams and have had good luck with them.

I have had luck with browning and recently the newer primos proof cam. Primos has been a problem for me in the past but this proof cam is really performing.

Moultrie is a peddler of junk. While I tend to agree... when it comes to trail cameras they are all disposable junk. I haven't found one that is significantly better than the others. Have 2 M-80s that are going on 4-5 years old I think (continuous use in south texas) Have a M-880 that is 3-4 years old (continuous use in south texas) and just bought a newer model, I don't remember the model but it was on sale and I had a gift card so I picked one up. I set it up in my back yard and its taken some good pictures of hogs raccoons and a fox so far it will move to the ranch next month with the others. They have been the best TC's Ive ever had.
