Does anyone know where I can find any information on finding a Junior Hunter Test for my young dog? I've really just started getting interested in it and want to find out some info about them and when and where they would be held. Any info or a website reference would be greatly appreciated.

Entry Express will have a list of all of the upcoming AKC tests that you can search based on the date and state plus type of event. If you are looking to run any UKC HRC tests then you can look on the HRC site or Hunt Secretary for those. There is an AKC test in Bryan/ College Station next weekend, then the next two weekends will have tests in the Manhiem/Paige areas.

Hey jeffro3967,

That was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks a ton.

I don't think that my dog is quite ready but I just wanted to go out and watch some and see how it works.

Mallard, find a retriever club AKC or UKC in your area, join it quick.

The members are always ready to help new people. You will find people to train with, you need s few others to throw bumpers, etc. The hunt test are a blast, you will meet so many great people. I got my first lab when I first got married, my wife and I went to a test almost every weekend, fun road trips.

You will bond so hard with your dog

if you are not a pro or have no pro help, it is almost impossible to train a lab properly to hunt. Obedience (steadiness to the gun) will make you or break you., once you get your Junior title, the real work begins.....off lead...
