I have a small place that i have set up a 600lb protein feeder for the first time...fenced it off and now getting DD to fill...My question is with DD do i need to mix corn in with it to get them started on it?...How long does it take for them to start eating it?

Did not have to mix any corn with DD in my feeders.
The deer started hitting it hard fast. Double the consumption of other feeds I used.
I have talk to a couple of hunters that had slower starts than me bucket most will tell you the deer crave DD.
I started using it in the shooting lanes instead of corn this year.
I'll bet it depends on how green the area is your are hunting and how many deer you have.
Setting up a new feed location can be frustrating at first with any feed. If the deer are going to jump on protein it will be the DD first I'd bet money. They do hit it harder than any other brand I have used.
Good luck with your new strategies! Lot of hunters really showing some great results with that feed but like anything else you can't expect it to work unless you put in full effort. Feed the deer year round. A couple of months is not going to make your lease full of Giants. Pump it to them all they will eat that is the key.

Apparently, you don't need a gateway feed. It's so addictive, they just can't help themselves. Think of it as a mix of meth and steroids. Just fill your feeder and get out of the way.

It's the amount of it they consume vs other protein brands...IMO. The deer seem to love the stuff. and anytime you can get more good stuff down a deers pie hole the better he gonna be.

I don't like to mix corn with protein free choice because it brings more Coons.

Even if you don't have deer on your land, deer from other counties will travel once they learn of the DD feed. QUICK.

The way I understand it dd feed will make your deer grow huge antlers just by standing near it. That's why even though it's more expensive it's better to feed because they don't even have to eat it to be huuuuuge.

Do they make you sign an estimate contract that the fine print says you will be charge damages if you don't feed it?

I wish I was not so poor other wise I would start feeding it to my Ibex. Can you imagine what horns they would grow?
