A friend booked us a hunt with The Drake Plantation in Winnie. Anyone ever hunted with them. Just trying to see how they run their hunts.

Was thinking about trying to book a hunt with them as well. Will let everyone know how it turns out if I go.

Good luck. I personally would have gone with Pipkin Ranch Outfitters. They hunt almost all marsh and that is where the birds are this year (and every other year). The rice field hunting can be good in this area but hunting the marsh is your best bet.

Hell of an outfitter they've got goin. I know Spencer, the guy who owns The Drake Plantation, and he is all for the customers and making a pile of birds for you guys. They've been ON the birds over the last week too.

Shoot me a PM if you have questions, but you're gonna have one heck of a hunt, I can almost guarantee ya.

You are 100% correct. I don't even know what in the hell I was typing, lol.

Either way, if you decide to hunt with them, you won't regret it.

Ended up going with Pipkin Ranch this morning. Weather made it tough as the fog didn't burn off until 10 o'clock, but we still had a good shoot. 12 ducks and 1 goose took a ride home with us. Great operation and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Yep fog down here in the marsh makes the hunting pretty tough. Most of the birds you are killing are traffic birds so if it is foggy and they can't see your decoys, you are screwed!

Yep, that's exactly right. I don't know of many scenarios where fog is beneficial. I'd take bluebird sky and wind over anything else.

They charge $200/person which I think is reasonable. Most places are $225 or $250 now.
