He was one of three that was milling around a cow fixing to drop, he was a slow runner. Not a long shot (125 yards) but definitely a fast one, had a 10 ft gap in the trees he had to cross while running at about half speed. Broke his back with the 243 and the 58 grain Hornady V-Max at just under 4000 fps. Didn't realize he was still alive until I was about 15ft away. 
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Should have used the Weatherby ! Funny you say that because I just pulled the 257 and replaced it with the 243 Steyr. I've went round and round with truck rifles and always come back to the Steyr 243, it loves the fast movers with it's slow twist (1-12) and 26 inch barrel. That and it doesn't hurt me to watch it get roughed up as much as it does the wood stocked 257 Roy.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.
