Heading out to company ranch just east of Junction this morning.
So has the rut done came and went?

I know deer will move in a shower, but how about in a steady harder rain?
Usually on my lease if it's a good rain I wait for it to taper off before hitting stand.
Yall hunt in a harder rain and have luck?

I left there 5 days ago and the young bucks were chasing but didn't see a single mature buck. Lots of activity. Typically 1st week of December is a good one out there.

As many does as there are in the area, I have seen them trying to start on the does the first weekend in bow season thru the last weekend of the extended doe/spike season. I killed the best buck (147 5/8) I ever killed between Junction and London on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I saw him the Sunday before and he had a doe bedded down and was hard into the rut.

We hunt near Telegraph and KC 120. We have been seeing good rutting activity, but I wouldn't say it has peaked. I think it is very close to peaking. So, I think hunting this weekend despite rain chances is worth being in a stand.

Our place is about 5 miles east of Junction. In 4 days last week we only saw young bucks moving does around. Had herds of does sitting around ignoring basket racks that were pestering them. The older bucks should start chasing in the next week.

If you are close the river then the Axis are everywhere. My daughter killed a nice Axis buck last Wednesday.

We are about 8 miles north of junction and have only seen the young bucks trying to chase. Have not seen a mature buck. I'll try to get out there and hunt on Monday through Friday. Hopefully get lucky

Saw a few young bucks Saturday afternoon,so no big boys on my trip to company ranch.
Got a nice doe and spike, so meat in freezer.
Heard a nice 10 was shot this morning after I left early this morning. Guess I will see pics tomorrow at work.

We are 20-30 miles south of Junction in Edwards County. First or second weekend in December is the money shot. Our young bucks have been going and bigger ones just starting.
