"It was like a Hog Nightmare" was the first thing Lonnie Paul Walker said to me when I arrived about 10 minutes after I heard his Marlin .30-30 go off. Lonnie runs about 130 head of cattle on his Brown-Logan Ranch in Santo, TX most of his pregnant cows had calfed out pretty much on time except one late delivery I think she dropped her calf about 4 days before 12/28/16. This monster hog was intent on killing and making dinner of that calf the little guy was running full out with the hog right behind it and the mother cow was right behind the hog trying to save her calf. Lonnie did the only thing he could do, grabbed his rifle from the truck and took a running shot at about 30 yds. aiming at the hogs head. At the shot that ugly sucker hit the ground. The mother cow, obviously not trusting Lonnie's shot placement went at the dead hog and started butting it with her head. Later after lifting the 300 or so pounds of hog with the tractor you could see the shot placement straight through the onside ear and out the other one. That Pard was a"smokin shot"!

Killed a hog and saved a calf. Good shot to stop him in his tracks.

Had no idea a boar would chase down a young calf. With daggers for teeth like that, suppose he could've turned and killed momma. Great shot & pic!
