Briles has a good shot and has a qb that's ready to play Stidham something LSU hasn't had in a while

Tennessee and USC? He got fired at the dang airport by USC. They hired a drunk to replace him, that's how bad they wanted him gone. Saban dresses him down regularly as the OC for Bama. I guess I'm saying that it would be a terrible move for an SEC team to hire him as HC, but it will probably happen.

Did you see Muschamp at Florida? At least now Kiffin can say he's had Saban teaching him how to handle staff and players.

Muschamp is also a Saban disciple, so I'm not sure I understand. He didn't have a head coaching job until Florida and now he has been relegated to South Caolina, which is Vanderbuilt-level even after Steve Spurrier left and Muschamp had head coaching clout in the SEC. Kiffin tanked at UT and then tanked hard at Southern Cal and is under Saban's thumb an publicly ridiculed by Saban, who hired his USC successor to help out.

I just don't see it happening at LSU. If they want Kifflin or Muschamp, and I believe Muschamp would be the better choice but still a bad one, then I think it's a bad move. I think Petrino or Briles, in that order, would work best for LSU.

Kiffin was in Tennesee only 1 year. And results what you would expect, like 7 and 5.

USC was coming off sanctions and he did OK there. Pat Haden is a jack wagon, anyway....

He may be a horrible head coach, but I won't judge that based on Tenn and USC. The biggest part of college coach is being able to recruit, when your school don't recruit for itself.

Briles would scare me. Give LSU a offensive genius and the SEC West would be more difficult than it already is.

Talent is a gift, character is a decision.

Absolutely. They already have the criminals, he would feel right at home.

I'm not an LSU, USC or Tenneseee fan or anything, but I'll agree to disagree that he should get another HC job in a power conference. If he does, I bet he will fail there, too.

Muschamp just isn't head coach material and given another shot not far enough removed from the disaster created in Florida. DC, sure. Kiffin probably spends to much time as Joey Freshwater, but he's far enough removed from getting left at the airport by a team and obliterating them as an OC to gain some ground. Folks could also say he was dealt bad hands at UT & USCw.

Briles is a PR nightmare waiting to happen.

I will be honest, as a Bama fan, Briles scares me. No team in the SEC has seen an offense like his.

LSU is known for defense. Keep that in place, and add Briles is what I would do.

I think Briles has too much baggage right now... maybe in a few years when things cool off for him. I don't think his type offense would work as well on the SEC as folks thinks.

I think Herman would be a great choice... younger coach with a good track record.

Who knows though... they may have a dark horse candidate.

I was listening to an interview while on the road before the PVAMU game and basically it seemed that the sports media was disgusted that he was even getting air time....so there's that.

The Achilles heel of that offense has and will always be an actual able-bodied defense with a good pass rush. Might as well go after Kingsbury, less baggage - same all weapons on offense, no defense philosophy.

Herman could be the next Meyer, or could be a Coach Fran. The latter would set LSU back 10 years.

If they care about winning (and they all do), they should hire Briles yesterday.

Muschamp and Kiffin aren't head coach material, at least not in the SEC.

Briles is going to be hired in the next two years, may as well be next year.
