I generally take a chuck roast like this, brown it in a pot and stick it into the oven.

I tried something different today. I stuck it on the grill.

Next I put it together for the over, by adding my vegetables. I discovered balsamic vinegar way too late in life.

I love cooking bags.

Here it is plated. It's tough to get a good presentation with a freshly baked pot roast.

It was delicious. I'll eat on it several meals, but never two nights in a row. It will slice for the next meal.

Try browning it on the grill before you put it in the crock pot. Thank me later.

My mother in law does some briskets/roasts very similar to this that turn out well. Although she make her gravy slightly differently. She uses a combination of Heinz Chili Sauce, onion soup mix, and a little Coke. Surprisingly good for the simple recipe. We will have to try Worchester, balsamic, onion soup next time.

Balsamic makes everything delicious. One of my favorite meals is a simple caprese. That looks great.

I simply put grill marks on both sides of a seasoned chuck using the gas grill. I grilled a couple of onion slices with it I let mine cool. I chopped up potatoes, carrots, and onions then coated them with a little oil before pouring a package of Lipton onion soup mix over them. I used maybe a pint of water and put it all in a cooking bag for 3 hours at 300 degrees. I mixed the stock with flour and water, in a pan then thickened on a burner. It falls apart.
