It's up to the people who have been here a while to set the tone. There is no other forum of all the forums we manage that has as many ups and down as the migratory forum. If you want this to be a more friendly and enjoyable place to visit, then contribute to making it that. All you have to do is try and look a little more for the positive. With just a little change in attitude from our core members, we can keep this forum going and make it a lot more interesting.

Help us cut down on the bickering and negativity. Use the moderator alerts if you need to. It doesn't take that much to get a forum headed in a better direction, but we have to have the members help to do it.

Did I miss something? This place is as tame as a zoo. Somebody go off into the wilds?

The only thing you have missed is that we've lost about 50% of our regulars. We were on a pretty good upswing through 2014, but we backed off the moderation and took a pretty good downswing during 2015.

To be honest, many of the moderators are just fed up with trying to keep the migratory forum in decent condition. It takes constant work. The rest of the forum, except maybe the OT, runs fairly smooth. We've tried many things over the years to make this forum better. It works for a while, but if you aren't diligent, it slips right back to a situation where there is just too much sarcasm and attacks to the point where it's just hostile.

I'm not sure what the solution is because it seems to happen on many other forums catering to migratory hunters and especially duck hunters.

Waterfowl hunters are the most anal group of hunters out there.They are passionate about their sport. I have been hunting waterfowl for 56 years , it seems to me things started to change about 10 years ago. It seemed to get alot less friendly out there,no sharing info, no taking a newbie under your wing and teaching them the proper way to hunt with ethics. Not all are this way but I have run into my share. Love the sport and pass on the knowledge. Without that it will fade into oblivion.

Ok well did they leave on there own (it sounds like it) or did some get thrown out? I'm not the loudest rooster here by the post counts but I log on frequently and read some.... over the past year I have seen a few minor flair ups with doods but I've yet to see an old fashion brawl like we use to see over on the leatherwall (bowsite). Maybe you guys are doing a really good job of cleaning it up before it gets read by members?

All I can say is it does get a bit mundane here sometimes.....but I think thats the nature of waterfowl hunters. Keeping it low key and Shuuuuuu quit. But someone lets a fart out about something and they get scolded lol. Someone comes on and ask a question about something and they get told to use the search function (this happens more on other sites than here) I saw where someone told the person telling the op to use the search function that....if everybody did use the search what in the hell would they be to talk about? I thought that was funny....but true.

To sum up....this place could use a little SPICE. jmo though.

I agree with everything you said, except the last sentence, it will not fade into oblivion, the opposite is happening, and will probably continue, duck hunters on the rise, and places to hunt not keeping up.

And this is part of the issue, the competitive nature of duck hunting. Public, too many hunters, not enough water. Private, too many hunters, not enough duck leases. Finding a duck lease is no easy task, not like finding a deer lease. Part of the competitive nature of duck hunting public is what I like, but I would like to see less hunters on the water. I see myself one day giving up duck hunting, and getting a deer lease.

So combine the competive nature of ducking hunting, along with duck hunters being a passionate crazy bunch (you got to be crazy to head accros the lake 20 mph wind in sleet and snow at dark 30 in the morning), and a forum like this where you got some ribbing going on, and the humble brag of someone posting up a successful day on the water....some are gonna get their panties in a wad and turn into a jerk, and that's when the trouble starts. Ribbing is gonna happen, but when you cross the line of ribbing to being a jerk, normally to try running someone off, that is the issue, jerk needs to get the boot. JMO.
