What are you thought on the Taurus 357 Tracker 6 inch barrel. I was looking for a pistol for home protection/hunting. I don't know much about Taurus pistols and don't want to break the bank . I have usually used my dads pistols (S&W, Colt, Beretta, Glock). Cosmetically it looked really good but don't know much about them. Does anyone have experience with the Taurus 357 Tracker.

I have a Titanium Tracker in .45 Colt. I had heard that the titanium models received preferential treatment at the factory and had better QC than the steel models, but who really knows?

The pistol has been reliable and hasn't had any problems. The DA trigger pull is fairly heavy, but the sights are good and the single action trigger pull isn't too bad. All in all, I have no regrets. The Taurus is most definitely not a Colt or an S&W, but I'd buy a steel Tracker for an inexpensive utility pistol assuming the $$ was right.

I found one at a pawnshop for $325 and figured I could probably knock a little bit off of that.

Nothing wrong with Taurus revolvers at all. Not a fan of their simi autos at all though.

I have one and it shoots great. Trigger is awesome. Hits what you aim at also.

I've got a 66 with the 6 inch barrel. Routinely kills beer cans at 50 yards with .357's but the POI at that range is off about 8 inches with cheap 38's. Like others have said, their revolvers are good but I recommend staying away from their automatics.

I have a Taurus in the 357 Mag with the Titanium model. It's the biggest piece of crap I own. It shot ok with mild 38 special loads. I did a lot of shooting with them. When I went to the 357 mag loads, something went wrong. Accuracy was horrible on the first few shots. On about the 4th or 5th round, I had a piece of bullet material come back and strike me in the ear lobe, and some smaller fragments on my face (I always shoot with glasses and had ear plugs in that day). I bled like a stuck pig for a long time. It had shredded some bullet material and the pressure pushed it from the cylinder gap back at me. I sent it back to Taurus explaining my issue, along with my brothers PT45. My brothers 45 ACP had trigger issues, and would go limp after shooting 1 round. They ended up replacing the forcing cone on the revolver, and my brothers pistol still had issues. After having issues with both of them, I will never own anything again that says Taurus on it. If I am going to use something for personal protection, I need something more reliable than a cheap pistol.
