Who out there is making greens for the new year? Please post your recipes

i fry bacon and onions together then add my greens to it and saute it all together for a few minutes then add it all to a pot of chicken broth with whatever seasoning you prefer...cant go wrong

Same as NG, except I just use water. I'll have to try the broth 'tho, sounds good.

All my greens are prepped the same way, wash them good and put in giant pot (they shrink) and add just a little water. Salt, pepper, and bacon grease (turnip greens get a little sugar) and bring it to a boil. Cover and simmer. Mama makes the corn bread.

NG's way sounds way good too.

What kind of greens you use NG?
Might do this tomorrow with black eyed peas and cornbread.

onion and jalape�o cooked in salt pork, add greens, water, little chicken or beef broth, tony's, and a little vinegar.

Mustard or turnip greens bro you could do it with spinach too

What's the difference in collared, mustard, turnip etc?

The only time I've ever had them was when I was stationed in NC and my barber was talking about them and when I mentioned I had never had them she made me some and had me pick up some fried chicken and make cornbread to eat them with. Were good stuff.

I like it in salads. Only time I've eaten it cooked was from a can when I was a kid and it was nasty.

I open the can a Sylvia's heat and eat. I have been doing it for years on New Year's Day.

Collards look like cabbage on a stalk when growing. Mustard greens have a horseradish taste when eaten raw. Turnip tops are a little more bitter.

I think greens are an acquired taste. I don't care for cooked spanish. I put lots of vinegar on mine when I was growing up. Now I use a vinegar based hot sauce. I like mustards and turnips mixed. Have to have the cornbread.

Got mine going. The only greens lefts at albertsons last night were collard.

The only thing I use my iPad for is reading e-books. I have read four or five real books in a row so the iPad has been dead on the shelf for a while.
