Hey fellas I'm planning on purchasing a new tikka and want to get y'all's opinions. I've done a lot of research on the .270 and the 7mm-08 but I'm torn. I've owned a 270 and it was great.
I'm looking for: 1) accuracy 2) power 3) range
The gun will be used mostly for deer/hogs but eventually I want to be able to use it for elk/mule deer.
I don't reload so bullet cost and availability comes into consideration as well. I appreciate y'alls input!!!

I have both, load for both and love both.
For the ranges I hunt (400 yds. and under) I use them interchangeably.
To be fair however, my go-to is a T3 .30-'06 with my 165 grain handloads.
They ALL do the job well.

Because you said accuracy, power, range, mule deer and elk, I have to go with .30-06 from the choices you listed. Long action holding more powder, pushing a higher BC, heavier bullet than the rest of the options. And you not being a hand loader, the .30-06 has a gigantic list of ammo options for you to try. I'd stick with the 180 gr. bullet area. I don't know what kind of range you are talking about, but that can get into a whole other discussion on proper optics.
This will go on for several pages, and many people will throw out lots of other cartridge suggestions, but I stuck with the list you gave.

But if you are serious about chasing elk with it then I'd go 30-06, 270 will prob work, but I like 30 cal holes in large animals

You can drop down in bullet size to make the 30 caliber feel like the 270, but the 270 will never give you the ft/lbs of energy you need for a big animal like an elk. 30 is the right choice.

Haha I'm not trying to start a flame war but I honestly just want to know what my best option is if I'm going to buy a nice rifle top it with a nice scope. I pondered the 30-06 but I've heard that it's a relatively inaccurate round when compared to .270/7mm-08/308. At least that's what some of the old fellas at the lease told me. If anyone can vouch for the accuracy of a Tikka T3 in 30-06 than that may be the route of I have go. Again, I do apperciate everyone's input. I've lost some sleep over this.

The accuracy thing is a fantasy. In target rifles, there is a real and theoretical advantage to short, fat cartridges as pioneered by the 6mm PPC. In a hunting rifle, too many other factors take precedence. The Tikka, in any of the available cartridges, will shoot better than you can.

Educate me...I have a 270 and 3030.
There is talk a 270 is not big enough for an elk. I read another topic about 30/30 for elk and everyone on that topic thought a 30/30 was great for elk.
I would rather shoot a deer with my 270 than my 30/30.............

I'm just ribbing. I like to poke 270 lovers.
Will the 7mm-08 and the .270 kill elk and mule deer? Sure.
Of the options listed, if I had to pick one rifle to hunt with for the rest of my life, I'd pick the .30-06.
As far as .30-06 not being accurate, that's nonsense. Those guys may be repeating what they've been told, and/ or have never tried to make one shoot one ragged hole with a tuned hand load, or have tried a wide variety of mass produced ammo. They put a 3-9X duplex Bushnell, Nikon, or Leuopld on it, load it with Core Lockts, flinch like hell when they shoot it, and blame inaccuracy on the .30-06.

How bout getting a tikka 270, slap on a 7mm barrel, and have it chambered in 280 Ackley. That's what I did and I love it! Gets you the benefit of high ballistic coefficient 7mm projectiles and the extra case capacity for a little more umph than the 270.

I'd go with the 270, from the choices given. Somewhere in-between a 6.5-06 and a 280, the 270 is... Perfect in many ways.
With the new bullets and new powders, it's not the same old 270 that Jack O'Connor did so well with. - It's better.
Kind regards, charlesb

Why ask these questions? You know what your going to buy. You've studied it on the Internet for weeks and decided they're both the same out to 400. How many men on this forum do you think have killed deer at that distance? Not many. Most of these folks sit in a stand like you will and shoot a deer at an exact 100 yards. 125 on the long end. Buy what you have confidence in. I shot a .270 my whole life. It was stolen out of my truck and I bought a 7-08. It doesn't kill them any deader.

I would rather shoot a deer with my 270 than my 30/30............. The .30-30 thread was restricted to a cow elk at 125 yards and under. Those were his stated parameters.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.
