Simple fix, cut the zipper off your wife's coat or jacket and put it on your jacket. Just cut the top part of the zipper off and slide the new one on. Put your old one on her jacket, she will never know.
It works.

Have you done this? My wife would kill me if I done that. Plus my rain jacket is $400 jacket, I think I want a pro to fix it, but the thought of cutting zipper off wife's jacket for hunting is hilarious!! clap

My buddy did this exact thing a few days ago and it worked, he told me about it today while hunting in the rain, mine would no longer work so I had to use the snap buttons to close my jacket. I will do the same repair on mine tomorrow since the rain does not appear to be stopping anytime soon.
On another note, I talked with a Game Warden today with a mud rig, he said they have two now, very interesting.

Did it really cost $400? If that's the case take it to a tailor or shoe repair place.

Guy only deals in Cabelas gear so he can take it back and get a new one every year. No way they sell a $400 jacket

Of course the season may be over by the time you get its back but it is a $400 jacket

I got a plastic poncho you can borrow while you wait

I was rounding up. grin With tax it was damn near $400. Bought it 2012 I think, sure wish they had their old return policy, I would most definitely be taking it back to get a new one.

I'll get it fixed over the split.

Okay Guy, we do not want this to be another 20 page thread about how to fix your motor so I am going to make this as simple as possible for you.
Please do not over evaluate the broken zipper issue.

I fixed my jacket this morning, took all of 1 minute, more than likely the zipper has a broken or worn down point. Mine is working like a charm again, I am dry. smile
Step by step directions:
1.Go buy a new zipper or do like I did and find an old jacket and remove the zipper.
2.At the top of your zipper track, by your neck, cut a slit above the last piece and slide the zipper off.
3.Slide the new zipper on and your done.

No need to take it somewhere and much easier than tuning your carb. Let me know how it works out. cheers

Now if I could just find a way to get my new trim unit delivered today so I can repair the damage I caused the other day I would be in business to end the split in my boat. Oh well, will just have to bum another ride like I have been doing the last couple of days.

Ha ha 20 pages. I think my teeth are messed up, not the actual zipper. But I might try that.

Of course if you don't want to try to fix it, you could always squirt some seafoam on it

Bet it's the zipper, if you zip it and it comes apart at the bottom, its the zipper. The teeth are really hard to damage even on a cheap jacket much less a $400 one.

We are waiting... cheers

Another 4 page post about how to fix something...one of these days we're all going to realize that Guy is a bit "special" and marches to the beat of a different drum. grin

I personally would take it to my dry cleaners and let them put a brand new zipper in it...just take them a few days and you have two weeks.

An even better option would be to buy this: http://www.columbia.com/mens-widgeon-wad...lor=936#start=5

Then buy the liner: http://www.columbia.com/mens-widgeon-tur...lor=947#start=6

Guaranteed never to be wet or cold again wink

Mo I know you are just trying to get me to take the zipper off my wife's coat and get me in trouble, it's not going to work I know your tricks.

I just got back from tailor, needs whole new zipper, this section will not stay together, $65 to fix, but got it working good enough for tomorrow.

Judd if you're not a little nutz, you are not a real duck hunter. I been nutz all my life, here's me when I was international ski bum, my ski pass in Austria 1985.

That's hilarious....

Guy...I don't plan on dealing with this mess and waiting until the split opener (at South Padre smile )...if you want to borrow my jacket I'll meet you somewhere today and give it to you. I've got a Drake 3:1 and a Wigeon Wader...you can borrow either one you want.

Seariously, I fell in love with duck hunting, because you got to be a little nutz to do it. This is Australia during our summer, I was ski lift operator during the day, bartender at night. We skied on long skis back then.
