I hunt in Eastern Menard county. Tons of turkey and I'm going to start trying to take one with my bow. However, when I looked at my license, there are tags for Rios and one for Eastern or Rio. So, I went to the TPWD website the see what species are in Menard county and how to tell the two species apart, but couldn't find anything. But then came across a TAMU research paper on Texas Turkeys. Their map indicates that there are NO Eastern Turkeys in Menard county.

Any advise? Are there Eastern turkey in Menard County? or just use my Rio tags on the birds?

There shouldn't be any Eastern turkeys in Menard, you will just use you Rio tags.
