It's been my experience that you see the most in crappy weather. Not a downpour of course, but blowing mist has always been good to me.

I agree. This past weekend when the front came through southeast Texas early morning it rained off and on but not hard at all. It quit completely around 10 am I saw the most activity I have seen all year and saw movement until around noon. As Creek said a mist or light rain seems to be the ticket sometimes.

If it get heavy they will hole up, but have no problem in slight to moderate from what I have seen.

What this man just said, bucks will freshen up their scrapes after a rain.

Yes! The mature bucks love to move when they think people aren't dumb enough to be out in the bad weather...It seems they think that anyways..lol..Ive shot 3 of the 7 big bucks that I have shoulder mounts of while it was raining.

Red River county, nothing moves in the rain. Not even hogs. I will be there though.

Here in Menard County and further west, deer do not move much in a rain, as soon as it breaks, deer are everywhere. When hunting in the east, doesn't seem to affect them as much as they are accustomed to it.
I hate hunting in the rain.
Adios,
Gary

A couple of nice things about hunting in a light rain, your scent, movement and noise are masked by the rain. I like to still/stalk hunt and nothing beats a light rain for getting closer to those wild critters. Pay close attention to the wind, for the sense of smell is the one thing a deer never doubts..

I'll be in the stand most of the day tomorrow. Calling for light showers.

I'll be out in it. I like hunting during and just after a light rain, lots of critters will be moving.

What little autumn color we do get around the Brazos Valley is on display now. Some of it from can be seen from the comforts of home a little more from the car along the road but so much more is deep in the woods and off the beaten path. That's the color I seek to find..
We seem to have entered the Holidays cold and wet but that doesn't deter me in the least from sneaking around in the woods looking for deer and hogs. While I'm out in the elements I keep a close eye out for that fleeting splash of red and yellow, orange and all shades of green all too quickly turning to browns and grays with the next hard freeze.
Wild animals sense the coming cold and look to be busiest when the season is changing. Perhaps they know to feed heavily so they can wait out the really bad weather tucked up under the thick cover somewhere out of sight. Mother Nature has built many mammals to tolerate cold much better than heat. The whitetail deer around here only get relief from the bugs when it gets cold, really cold.. Early in the fall it often warms back up to the 50's and higher which is warm enough for another round of mosquitos and these late season bugs are huge!
The cool weather is something to be thankful for as it kills back the bugs even if only for a while.. I hate to admit it but I have a good bit of Michigan Yankee still in me and that part likes the cold especially come hunting season..

Light rain or misting, or even light snow has been a boon for me. My three biggest bucks were taken in this weather. One during the rut and the other two late season. Not sure, but humidity seems to keep scent and sound down. Downpours I don't even try, nap time in the camper. Heavy snow is hit or miss depending on time of year, but worth a shot.
